Thanks McLover. Which ever receiver or amp was selected, it sounded great.

Some CD-4 (Quadradisc) LPs were released in quad-only: Best Of The Doors, Aloha From Hawaii (Elvis), Best Of Aretha Franklin, etc, with stereo versions of the same mixes being issued a few years later. Some QS LPs were silently issued in quad only (BB King is one), with a mention of being quadraphonic only on the LP's label. In the later 1970s Columbia issued a bunch of "stealth quads" in the SQ format, almost all being classical and identifiable with the two concentric rings around the logo.

It was not Columbia, it was EMI/Angel with the circles.

Wasn't the Picture Disc version of Tubular Bells in Quad? I may be wrong

Ack! Yes, Columbia's quads from the later quad days had small print on the cover.

Herbie Hancock said in an interview that he hears his music in surround as composes it and arranges it. He's done a few albums in either quad or 5.1, and probably has some unreleased surround mixes.

In the CBS SQ format and 8-track by the looks of it.

I've got both a CD-4 copy of The Best of The Doors and the dts download. I'm too nervous to play the CD-4 LP because I don't have a Shibata stylus (I've read you can "plow-out" the rear channel information with a normal needle). The Quad mix is amazing! It's just a shame I don't have all the gear you need to play my CD-4 LP.

I bought The Eagles 'On The Border' QuadraDisc (CD-4 Channel Discrete) LP purely because it was as new and only cost $2! I never got to hear it in Quad Sound and now probably never will.

Alan Parsons says in this talk that Dark Side of The Moon was meant to be a quad album.

Tomita's Bermuda Triangle was not only quad, it was recorded for "pyramid" sound, with one speaker to be placed above the listener. Someone was a little ahead of his time. The quad CD4 disc was only released in Japan and is virtually impossible to find in the US...

It's sad this stuff has never come out on DVD-Audio, SACD or some other multichannel format. There were some Dolby Surround CDs of his earlier records, but not this one.

QRX 7500 and QRX 9100. Both some of Sansui's best in Quadraphonic. I own the former model. And Sansui has built in CD-4, and that superb QS and SQ Vario-Matrix decoder as advantages. On those two models, all built in, no optional decoders needed.
