Bowie's Japanese R32P titles and a handful of others regularly sell for over $120, sometimes considerably more.

Elvis Presley, "Merry Christmas", RCA PCD1-5301 pressed in Japan for US, 1984, goes for $400-450 on ebay. There's nothing new on it, it is just very rare. I have my sealed one that I bought in '84 (in Waxie Maxie's in a generic longbox) just because, and I never opened it only because there was just nothing new on it. It turns out to be the rarest US regular issue Elvis CD. :)

Equinoxe from Jean-Michel Jarre on Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. On eBay its €599, on Discogs.com only €129. Luckily I bought it new in the nineties. And played it a lot, to my enjoyment.

There at many CD's from labels like Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (or MFSL, or Mofi), DCC and Audio Fidelity (AF) that are now listen for over €100 when still new/mint.

Tori Amos has got a 1992 promo CD called "Precious things" that used to sell for a lot of money back in the days, though now it usually goes for much less.

But the real rarities are, first, an original copy of her first album under the band name "Y kant Tori read".

There's also a beautiful digipak promo copy of her second album, "Under the pink", which comes with alternative artwork.

Those last two would probably pay your rent.

Missing Persons Rhyme And Reason and Color In Your Life CDs are regularly offered at over $100 or close to it, because they were only in print for a short time in 2000 and the band's popularity has increased through the internet and through Dale's reunion stuff.

When I spoke to Patrick O'Hearn through his site, he said he was aware that the CDs were out of print and wished they were still available, but they had had no luck contacting labels about it since they were considered niche artists. Also, Dale Bozzio is infamously alienated from everyone in the band (except maybe Warren). I did send an email to Universal and they said they'd put forth the idea so maybe it'll happen one day.

There must be hundreds of rare film score CDs that go for that much. Also, there are a number of 1990s CDs of European library music that disappeared instantly and now command a small fortune.

Do people still pay tons o' money for YKTR discs? I can't imagine there's anyone alive who's a fan who hasn't heard it since the advent of the internet.

Exactly, plenty of stupid money listings. Doesn't mean anything will be sold for even close amount. Only low starting price auctions show real market value.
