The Rutles are as qualified to be there as some who already are.

    Like who? Just curious.

  7. Put everybody in by default, then, year by year, start kicking out the untalented and undeserving, until we're left with just The Beatles.:magoo:

  8. John Halsey should be in for being a Ruttle and a Patto.

They did some great songs but they were still a parody band. Are you gonna put Spinal Tap and Bad News in there?

Because of Neil Innes, yes. The Oasis brothers borrowed from the best, including Lennon-McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and yes Neil Innes, updating the tradition of the old British rock bands who rerecorded blues records.
His melody was the base of the huge hit Whatever, and What's the Story Morning Glory's "Ringo song" She's Electric.
I don't know anything about the Rutles other than this.

Considering what's in already...they would stand as good a chance as anyone.

Even if they were to be inducted, it's probable that Dirk wouldn't show up while his business disagreements with Nasty were still in place. At which point one of Les Garcons de la Plage would call Dirk out for it.

If a bunch of chancers like The Beetles can get in there I'm surprised The Rutles haven't already been inducted. Ron Nasty is still a legend and although Dirk's voice has got a bit croaky lately he's still the man who sang 'A Girl Like You' and audiences all over the world are still happy to buy concert tickets to see the man. Barry's Salons might not be "Rock 'n' R9ll" enough for some here but it's one of the few chains in the UK that can still create a magnificent Pompadour and their DAs are the best around. The less said about Stig, post operation Yewtree, the better.

  18. If they were bigger than God, I would say yes. But it turned out that they were only bigger than Rod.

The bigger question is: should Barry Wom be inducted as a solo artist?

Why not? At least it would show that the Rock Hall has a sense of humor. Spinal Tap should be inducted too.

Unfortunately, because Dirk went on to form Punk Floyd, that will keep him out of the hall forever.
