the video was a bit dull toward the end, but it's a start. i definitely see echoes of early letterman.

They're doing an interesting podcast that you can find on the site. They're apparently already writing a lot, though they realize it'll all be irrelevant in three months.

Hmm, I dunno how I feel about this first video. Seemed a bit too much like his Colbert Report schtick, which I thought he was dropping. He could still be totally different on the actual show, though.

A few funny moments (Homeless Sea Captain!), but I don't think I could ever warm up to the guy. I couldn't stand the Colbert report, and like the above poster said, there's too much of that persona coming through here.

I absolutely hope that he keeps some of his persona/humor from the Colbert Report. Having a wider audience be able to see the brilliance that was done over the last decade would be amazing.

We won't be discovering a new Colbert with a different sense of humor. He won't be the political blowhard from the Report, but we're gonna get much of the same Stephen Colbert that got him the Late Night gig in first place. I'm getting excited!

Apparently, Dr. John and Allen Toussaint were too busy? I'm really not sure that I'm into this guy? "They Might Be Giants", in my opinion, would make for a GREAT house band, as they can deliver it all!

Yeah, I see your point. So he'll stop pretending to be a conservative blowhard but will keep up the smug sarcasm. I don't know, I'm curious to see how that plays out in a regular show, and not one of these scripted bits. As of right now I'm skeptical.

I don't see anything about him as "smug". His sarcasm is usually directly on point and biting. His speech at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner was about the best thing I've ever seen.

I swear I never once noticed those balcony exit doors before. They couldn't have been blocked.

Thanks for these. I hope the new team gives the place a fresh face lift while still keeping the integrity of the original design and architecture. It's a historic building (not just because of Dave) so I hope it's treated that way.
