Mick Box was the guy who actually founded the band with David Byron, and kept it going after Hensley left. Hensley didn't join until right before they put out Very 'Eavy Very 'Umble. The first record was primarily written by Box and Byron

Creepin is a definite highlight from WAAB for me.

All The Girls...definitely not. Can't stand the line about the dark brown stains on his underwear. Terrible.

Right. They were Spice without Hensley.

There good but no where near the talent of Led Zeppelin. In all reality Led Zeppelin would blow them off the stage, no comparison!

I would have liked them more if they did more things like Closer To Home and fewer things like Locomotion.

By time they did Locomotion they were starting a downward slide. Their best material was behind them.

Wow, no liking of Black Licorice, Stop Lookin Back, Ain't Got Nobody or The Railroad? I find it to be their most consistent album all the way through.

He did speak for himself and nobody else. Read here below:

"I wish Don Brewer give an official statement about the new album"

Steve's lacks the bass, but is crystal clear for detail. Both are great for what they are.

Yep....I love it. Great stuff! All great songs.
I think Rundgren went a little overboard on the production of the next album, but I think he nailed it on this one.

No love for Walk Like A Man? Also, I would choose Foot Stompin' from Caught In The Act...

Actually, GFR blew Led Zeppelin off the stage when they opened for them and Peter Grant had their power cut because they were upstaging Zeppelin.

In the studio, Zeppelin of course was the better band. And more ethereal. But they could not match the raw energy of Grand Funk Railroad live.

Grand Funk never upstaged Led Zeppelin stage or studio! There talent levels are lopsided big time,

Live performance is not always about talent. It's about level of energy and audience engagement, which is GFR excelled at. What I say is true, Led Zeppelin were threatened by Grand Funk Railroad in 1969/1970 and had them thrown off the tour because audiences were favoring Grand Funk. It is a historical fact, regardless of talent level.

I found my copy at a FYE store used a couple of years ago and in pretty good condition too. I will admit that I haven't came across one in quite a while since then.

Who cares, Page does not have to prove anything. Mark Farner is not even in the same league brother!

  25. I wouldn't disagree but I like "Locomotion" as well. It's actually a rather bizarre move for the band to cover that song and a clever idea.
