On other threads, I've noticed that many people think "Child of the Moon" definitely belongs on "Their Satanic Majesties Request" as do I, for its "psychedelia". Several opposing people feel that since it came from the "Beggars Banquet" sessions, the song belongs to that album, as it has a "rootsy" sound to it as well.

What album do you think "Child of the Moon" belongs on?

I used to think Beggars. Lately I've come to the conclusion it would be a perfect fit for Majesties!

Satanic Majesties but the lyrics would need to be slightly rewritten to fit. The music would have to be rewritten to fit on Beggars Banquet. But that's just me talking.

Yeah, I think it could have fit either right before, or right after "2000 Light Years From Home"

Very cool observations on the lyrics and music per each album. Stylistically, and even concerning the actual sound of the recording, I hear it more so on Satanic Majesties. It's too "electric" sounding for Beggars Banquet. Even the tracks which have electric guitar on Beggar's have an acoustic texture to them.

I think 'Child Of The Moon', 'Dandelion' and 'We Love You' would have strengthened Satanic Majesties. Then they could have replaced some weaker tracks like, say, 'On With The Show' or the longer version of 'Sing This All Together'.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Dandelion>We Love You can close side 1
Child of the Moon can close side 2

A 3.5 star album just became a 5 star album.

It would improve Satanic if it took the place of "Sing it all together (see what happens)", but as it wasn't recorded in time, I chose B-side.

Yeah, I chose b-side myself. You can't change history.

Anybody hear the similarity between "Child of the Moon" and the Beatles' "Rain"?

Yeah, sort of. But you know one thing I've wondered is: why is 'Child Of The Moon' listed as 'Child Of The Moon (rmk) on the Singles Collection? What is (rmk)?

Nobody knows for sure. It could stands for remake, or the initials for someone related to Allen Klein.
Perhaps it's the initials for whoever the Child of the Moon is :D

A little too psychedelic for Beggars Banquet.
A little less psychedelic for Satantic Majesties.

    I completely agree.
The way I see it, the song could have closed "TSMR". Therefore, the transition from that album to "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Beggars Banquet" wouldn't be so abrupt, after coming out of the haze.

And..that's why I put those three songs on my Satanic years ago and stuck the two weaker tracks you mention at the end of my disc , so I can listen to them, or not listen to them depending on my mood.

It makes for one of my favorite albums of all time.

And maybe 'Dandelion' could have opened the album since it was apparently recorded during the Buttons sessions.

I get your logic but...Dandelion right after "Sing This Song All Together" then Citadel...Yowsa!

I meant 'Dandelion' opens the LP before 'Sing This'....

Maybe just because I'm used to Through The Past Darkly, but if "Dandelion" was on Satantic Majesties, I like it as the song before "2000 Light Years From Home."

Yes, I apologize for the confusion. I read your post and thought about it and then thought what if Dandelion fell between Sing This and Citadel. Not in chronology, but a sweet sequence nonetheless.

This list looks good to me. Good work. And I agree that 'Gomper' is absolutely essential.
