Look what's getting a vinyl reissue this year!

I have a copy of the original, but I might have to pick this up, anyway! Along with Stevie Wonder's Someday at Christmas (featuring the original cover), and hopefully Soul Christmas (Rhino - due out last Christmas, but it never made it) it's starting to look interesting! I'm wondering if anyone else knows of holiday/Christmas releases set for this year, or if there might be a list out there in internet-land somewhere! Yeah, it's early, but A) I live in the south so I'm over the summer, and B) I love me some Christmas music!

If you like classic Christmas albums, Real Gone Music is releasing the following on CD this year...

The Three Suns - A Ding Dong Dandy Christmas
    George Melachrino - Christmas Joy
John Gary - The John Gary Christmas Album
The Living Voices - The Living Voices Sing Christmas Music (aka The Ralph Hunter Choir - Christmas Surprises)/The Little Drummer Boy (a 2-fer)
Lynn Anderson - The Christmas Album (expanded)

There are about 7 or 8 more that they plan on releasing as well but haven't been announced yet.

    - I actually have all of these on vinyl, so yay! The Ding Dong Dandy album is great simply for the cover jacket image! The Melachrino album is surprisingly great, as is John Gary (one of my Christmas favorites!) Thanks!

Great list over on Stubby's. Holy crap, why in the world has this not be reissued on vinyl! Great and extremely rare album!
THE GLAD SINGERS--"Swing Bells" (Digital release of kitschy 1965 album that has never been issued on CD)

It's an amazing album all the way around-- the arrangements are mind blowing.

This was the real beginning of prog rock (and not just cause ELP used the same theme):

I found a cd of the John Gary Christmas Album in a used bin last season... and I found a cd of the Lynn Anderson Christmas Album at the same place a few years ago. They'll be a little less 'rare' after these reissues but at least they will be accessible to those who want them... that's what's really cool.

The Angry Snowmans should have a new release of classic punk songs done with Christmas lyrics from the elves point of view.

Santa Sabbath just got done recording an album.

Now you got me fired up Nathan Aaron! I was really gonna try to put the Christmas music off until at least October this year but it always seems to bubble up come August. I found a really rare album off discogs in the off season that I already ripped but my damn hard drive crashed so I'm gonna have to do it all over again.

Here's a few more releases of note...

Bobby Vinton - A Very Merry Christmas (and the Complete Epic Christmas Collection) - 11/6/2015
Jimmy Dean - Jimmy Dean's Christmas Card (Expanded Edition) - 10/30/2015
Johhny Mathis - The Complete Christmas Collection 1958-2000 (3 CD Set) - 11/6/2015
Glen Campbell - The Complete Capitol Christmas Recordings - 11/6/2015
Jim Nabors - The Complete Columbia Christmas Recordings - 11/6/2015
The 4 Seasons - The 4 Seasons Greetings (Limited Mono Mini LP Sleeve Edition) - 10/9/2015

and three that WON'T be reissued this year...

It is my sad duty to report that UMG (Universal Music Group) has once again lived up to its sordid reputation as the dastardly (you could also use a "B" at the beginning of the previous word) company that it is by once again failing miserably in negotiations for licensing the copyrights to classic Christmas LPs in their archives for release on CD. This time, however, we did come close, which makes it all the more bitter.
The travesty is that the final thing that killed the deal was that UMG – the world's largest music company mind you – could not fulfill the proposed contract for reissue of the requisitioned LPs from their archives because of their "limited manpower."
There were three key LPs that were part of this deal that ultimately failed, and the biggest by far of the three were two albums from the Ultra Top 10 of my Top 500 that I have been working on for years to get back into print. Those two albums being the two classic and legendary Decca Records Christmas albums by Fred Waring and The Pennsylvanians, 'Twas The Night Before Christmas and Christmas Time. In addition to the two Fred Waring albums was Jack Jones' classic Kapp Records Christmas LP, The Jack Jones Christmas Album.
Needless to say, another attempt will be made for these titles next year, and perhaps by that time -- but just perhaps mind you -- UMG can get their proverbial act together and stimulate the economy by hiring a few more workers thereby enabling them to fulfill contractual requests to get classic titles in their music library released to the public. But that's enough for now about UMG, because if I continue, I will begin to weave a tapestry of obscenities just as Ralphie's father was famous for doing in A Christmas Story. And speaking of a different Ralph, Ralph Kramden of the Honeymooners, this is pretty much how the phone call ended with the latest negation with our contact at UMG, click here.
And now, for the complete list of Real Gone Music's Christmas CD releases for 2015, please click here for Edition #15 of "Chip's Tips."
