He was also known for being a pro's pro, showed up on time and knew his lines. He was certainly versatile and brought quality to whatever he did.

   + for 'Scrooged'.

I took my daughter and 7 girlfriends to Charlie's Angels as part of her birthday years ago.:crazy:The theater was almost empty so I sat a few rows back, just enough to keep an eye on them(and pass out money). Not a movie I would have ever chosen myself,I was suprised how well made and fun it was.

You act as if the OP had any idea whatsoever of what he was doing. A fallacy I assure you.

    Russell Crowe:

The Quick & The Dead (hyperkinetic comic-book western)
    LA Confidential (period crime drama)
    The Insider (corporate thriller)
Master & Commander (period maritime... action? Not sure how I'd classify this one.)
    A Beautiful Mind (biographical drama)

The omission of Gladiator from this list is not an error!

Crowe is an interesting one, as along with Cruise and Gibson he's one of three actors I strongly dislike personally, but find utterly magnetic on the screen.

I think all of those are pretty successful films. I like them all except Hope Floats, yet it's one of the wife's favorites.

I don't think "great" is any less subjective than breaking up the genre's to the nth degree to come up with 5. At least all of hers are genuinely different genres :)

I would replace one of the weaker films on that list with Speed (action).

I've been on a Fritz Lang bender for months.I recently saw M with Peter Lorre.Even as a kid he fascinated me.He died way to young.I always thought he had a twinkle in his eye and would have loved to see him do a bit more comedy.

Lorre wrote the book on creepy in "M" and then just kept adding chapters to it. Great actor!

  20. Well I would argue Earthquake, Midway, The Awakening as good films. They are technically proficient but I'd be hard pressed to even call the, GOOD films.

  21. They are all part of science fiction just subsets withn the genre.

This thread long ago became "actors in films from different genres" - the actors didn't need to be great and neither did the films! :D
