Someone was extremely rude and confrontational in one of the threads. Mr. Diament had had enough. That was entirely our loss.

Actually EricCuda is correct about the added part in Bone on Barry's master, I just checked the original RL vinyl version of the song and it doesn't have that audio anomaly at all nor do any of the other CD versions that I've heard (and excluding Barry's mastering I have 5 different CD versions of the song right in front of me to compare so this is an issue exclusive to Barry's mastering), if I could take a guess as to what happened I'd say it was a simple glitch in the system during the initial transfer and Barry either didn't know about the audio glitch until after the fact or he did know but didn't have enough time to fix it before having to send it to the pressing plants.

Is that the "Plop" at the beginning?

Yeah i'm referring to the "plop" at the begining it only happens on the BD mastering.

That's what I hear on my cd.

If that's the case then I'm positive you have BD mastered CD, have you done an EAC rip and checked the peak levels yet? If all of the peak levels are 87.0% (except for Shook me all night long which is 89.1%) then it's a safe bet it's a Barry CD.

Sounds like you definitely have a Barry CD which is a true keeper of a CD for sure.

Anyone can tell me, which one is Diament‘s mastering.

I have two Atlantics with the letters of the band and title completely filled with white. And one Atlantic with the band name in outline

16018-2 113772D made in USA by WEA (no barcode)

A2 16018 distributed by Columbia House (I think that‘s the canadian pressing)

    16018-2 7567-81472-2 German

Your best bet is to listen to track 4 "Givin The Dog a Bone" on each CD and see if there's a "plop" sound at the very start of the song, if there's a "plop" at the start of track 4 then it's an almost sure bet that it's a Barry CD as his CD mastering to the best of my knowledge is the only one to have this particular anomaly, hope this helps.

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

hands down that is the best mastering of that album...I found out the hard way on that one...

The glitch on Bone does annoy me now! So I turn to either of the excellent Albert masterings to avoid it - or one of the PBTH** vinyl rips :)

I have the original ATCO CD of Highway to Hell, not sure if Diament or not but it's terribly unpolished. Immediately the opening riff of the title track sounds really crackly. It sounds decent enough otherwise but that to me just makes it unlistenable. I also have an old CD of Back in Black that does sound pretty good from what I remember, perhaps it's also a Diament.

    All have the Barry Stenway.
Two above look to be Japan manufactures, so the Specialty would be first US make.
I do have that odd ball DADC using the Specialty SRC-01 Glass.

Pretty sure Diament's is an Atlantic, not Atco.

Right, the third is a JVC Japan, second one US JVC.
SRC US began in 1986. US JVC being the later one. I don't think they started till 87.
So it's going to be a toss-up between the DADC manufactured Specialty Glass and Japan JVC for US. Who knows. Could of been simultaneous as this is a pretty big title.

Agree... always thought it was a smooth sounding version. I have the Atco too... thinking it was a mid-90s remaster... haven't listened to it since I tracked down the Diament Atlantic.

What are the peak levels for the tracks? For Barry's master all of the peak levels should be 87.0% exact except for YSMANL which should be 89.1%, if your disc meets this specific criteria then you have a Barry master, another way to know is if it has a weird "plop" sound at the beginning of GTDAB if it has that plop sound then it's definitely a Barry CD as no other CD mastering has this error (I actually made a fixed version of Barry's GTDAB a while back, I'll probably redo it just in case I missed something the first go around).
