Best last song on an album

Was talking to a friend last night and I said that Day in the Life from Sgt Peppers is probably the greatest last song on an album ever. We sat thinking for a bit and couldn't really come up with a competitor. It just fits the album so well and wraps it so perfectly. What are your favorites?

Edit- Although we've all gotten a bit tired of it have to say that Freebird could be a contender as well.

 

That one is pretty hard to beat. I like Twist and Shout closing out PPM. Though it's been derided, I like You Can't Always Get What You Want closing Let it Bleed. Moonlight Mile on Sticky Fingers. Love Reign o'er Me on Quadrophenia is a good closer, and Won't Get Fooled Again on Who's Next.

When the Levee Breaks is a great closer for Zep IV

 

Harmony closes out "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" perfectly. I also think High Flying Bird from EJ's "Don't Shoot Me..." album is a great closer.

"Would" by Alice In Chains (from the album "Dirt") is usually regarded as their best song. I've often felt it would have been better served as the second track, since where it is it just creates the urge to skip the rest of the album after the first 3 or 4 tracks.

Good Night, The White Album...Effigy, Willy And The Poorboys....We're Not Gonna Take It (specifically the Listening To You coda), Tommy.

 

The endings of "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" by Van der Graaf Generator and "Supper's Ready" by Genesis (both plus 20 minutes suites) close their respective albums very well.

"All Apologies" closing 'In Utero' by Nirvana, the "all in all is all we are" harmonies bring a tumultuous album to a beautiful ending.

 

You Set The Scene - Love - Forever Changes (first one I thought of)

 

Crime of Century - Supertramp. You can't follow that song. Same goes for The Who's We're Not Gonna Take It, Genesis' Supper's Ready... Well, these have already been mentioned. They are really rock solid closers. Other mentions would be Bowie's The Bewlay Brothers, Yes' Heart of the Sunrise, Eagles' The Last Resort, Elton John's We All Fall in Love Sometimes/Curtains, Rush's In the End (BIG riff) The Beach Boys' Surf's Up and (don't laugh) Bee Gees' Horizontal title track... And of course, The Doors - The End.

Also a shout out to one of my all-time favorite closing numbers, Break from Aphrodite's Child.

I always found it interesting that while Jethro Tull's Stand Up ends with For a Thousand Mothers, which again is a very conclusive closing song, they opened a lot of shows with it back in the day. I could mention a thousand more but need to restrain myself.

agree with "a day in the life" being quite possibly the best ever. although, if you discount 'her majesty', 'the end' is pretty darn good too.
