By the way if you're reading this and you have Jagged Little Pill but you don't have Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie yet, go buy the latter. It's a terrific album worth hearing.

Thanks so much for posting that video. I think I'm going to check out some other interviews with her over the years.

Thanks Jonboy - that confirms that the HDTracks 24/192 is indeed a different mastering to both the CD releases. I am still bewildered as to why, but I guess that now we know - people will have more of an informed choice.

I prefer the HDTracks version as it is much quieter but others may see (hear) it differently.

I'd still love to know where the HDTracks mastering came from

BTW - my son has already taken my CDs for his car :D

I met her once and had a brief conversation. She was both kind and witty.

I got an autographed tour book from her from someone that knew her assistant. Got a free tour book out of it as well.

Not sure if I missed it or not. Is the 24/96 the same mastering as the 24/192, or is it like the Van Halens where you have to get the 192 to get the best version?

At this stage it is unclear unless someone who has bought the 24/96 can confirm it.

    Isn't it ironic?

There was one guy who purchased the 24/96 in the HDTracks thread, but we haven't seen results yet.

His initial comments were that it sounded way better than the original cd and that you had to turn the volume up to match the levels of the original cd.

To make this even more confusing, HDTRACKS and PONO only sells the deluxe set with the upsampled 44.1 to 24/192 version. The standalone album is only available in 44.1. So is this a different mastering too than the one in the deluxe edition? is this the same master as the CD in the box set?

Of course Pono doesn't even mention that it's upsampled from 44.1 to 24/192. We only know that because of HDTRACKS. What a mess! I actually want the high res version, but I'm not repurchasing the box set to get it.

I bought the 24/96 and the DR numbers match the 24/192 HDTracks numbers.

If you use the "Alanis definition" of the word perhaps. Otherwise, it is just cynically cyclical. Nothing at all "ironic" about it. :)

That's good news....although I'm a little peeved about paying extra for the additional empty space of the 24/192, especially after the initial expense of buying the 2 CD set as well.

So, I guess that the assumption at this stage must be that anything in 44.1 is the CD mastering?

I just felt like posting the Head Over Feet video. :) She had a string of really great videos for the singles on Jagged Little Pill.

Loved the JLP-era videos. It's a shame her official youtube videos are of poorer quality than most "fan" uploads.

Yeah I know, only song title that I could squeeze in there though.

I just listened to the CD1 of the four-disc set (EU version) and found "Head Over Feet" on it to be quite unpleasant to listen to (too bright). "Ironic" was not as bright, but it sounded dull and lifeless instead. The rest were OK and some even sounded quite alive. (I actually had my hopes up after listening to the first track, "All I Really Want," which ended up being one of the best sounding tracks on the entire CD.)

This recording, I think, has great potential to sound quite lively and lifelike, and I'm afraid this was a missed opportunity. However, I'm still happy to have bought this set as I had forgotten how good this album was. Alanis has such an appealing singing voice and many of these songs sound fresh again after all these years.
