The stereo remix of Paperback Writer is a big improvement over the old stereo mix, but it still isn't quite as amazing as the mono. This is one of my favorite songs of all time; I know every nanosecond of it...

Doesn't "Something" have a uke in it? I could swear I hear the plinking of a uke down in the mix.

At least it sounds better than the awful cut n paste job on the Live At The BBC version. George couldn't have felt too good about his status in the band after hearing that crap edit.

Check out Thank You Girl, I Dont Want to Spoil the Party and There's a Place for some other nifty Vocal swapping.

Ok. As I said, not directed at you. Just a comment. No offense intended. Hope there will be peace between us?

By the way, I love most of what I heard and saw upon one playback through the 2 BluRay discs and CD I bought.

    How about you?

And yet that album gets less respect every week.

After spending the week watching the two blu-rays, tonight, I fired up the Sennheisers and listened to the CD, end to end. These songs truly have never sounded better. Giles is a worthy heir to his Dad's work. Now, if they'll just pay attention to the positive reaction to The Cutting Edge, I won't have to worry about how I will fill my days after I retire.

Yes, the red is just the standalone remixed CD.

Another example of the 'swapped' harmony is the 'unplugged' version of "I'm Only Sleeping" on Anthology II.

I would use the stereo remix of Revolution from the Love album (full version on iTunes or DVD-A) to follow Hey Jude on that studio remixes playlist. I think it packs a good punch with the stereo panned crunchy guitars!

You can add the new mono mix of Revolution (from the DVD with live vocals) as one of your bonus tracks following Hey Jude mono mix from the DVD.

I always wondered which version John liked of Coming Up so much.
    Studio or Live?
I know he made the comment about listening to the McCartney II solo album and hearing the hit Coming Up, so that points to the studio version.
But John was also living in the States where the live version became the A side.
I'm confident he must have heard the live version as well.

The studio version. He expressed some dismay that the label pushed the live version because he thought the one with the "funny voices" or goofy voices - whatever - was great. He also said he understood that's "the business" though.

Fine. You guys win. I still say that all that matters is what wound up on the final recording. I probably stepped out of line with the comment about the whole post. Let's move on. let's not allow this to ruin the generally good vibe of the thread.

Thanks. I always liked them equally. It's like a rock Paul, novelty Paul como.

I know all about I Don't Want to Spoil the Party. I focus on the vocal swapping every time I listen to it. It brings new joy to an already great song. I'll listen for that in the other songs you mention.

I started out liking the live version. I thought the studio was too weird...now it's completely reversed. I've embraced weirdness. I guess that's what college does to you.

My nephew who's in his 20s (I'm in my 40s) got turned on to The Beatles and solo Paul and John a few years ago.
I played him the live version thinking he would think it was a cool Paul rocker.
    He thought it was okay.
I played him the studio version and it became one of his favorites.
    I'm still surprised.
Not so much that he likes the studio one so much, but that he didn't even think the live was all that great.
