It was a later special dvd edition called "Untitled". Pretty much, it's a significantly longer love letter that never feels too long.

I love Rock Star! I've probably watched it 6 times. First of all, Mark Wahlberg is always good. Jennifer Aniston in a see-through fishnet dress, braless, and in thong panties, is not too hard to bear, either. Plus, Jason Bonham and Zakk Wylde essentially playing themselves is cool.
I didn't like Dominic West as Kirk Cuddy, but Timothy Spall, as the road manager, is excellent.
If you haven't seen it, give it a chance.

Well. It certainly worked for me ...:)

Agreed. A bit creepy at times but also more than a bit endearing .

A great feat for an actor.

If I'm not mistaken, he was also Winston Churchill in The King's Speech.

Almost famous is a bad movie IMHO starting with the actors and following with the plot and the silly dialogues.
Just my opinion, haven't seen the bootleg cut or Rock Star.:)

...I thought everyone involved made it work...it had soul...and heart. Mark Wahlberg was excellent.

I thought they were both ok.I think one of my problems with AF was the bus scene where they all go into "Tiny Dancer".I'm thinking if you came of age in the early 70s you like AF.If you came of age in the early 80s you like RS.Maybe?

I think Almost Famous has a lot of great moments -- the kid saying goodbye to his mom, the band singing "Tiny Dancer" on the bus, the kid bouncing up and down on the bed with the groupies -- but I think it takes a turn in the last third and kind of gets grim and downbeat. I understand that was Cameron Crowe's intention, but it's a tough movie to watch, once Penny Lane has her overdose. I don't dispute this was the reality for a lot of groups and fans in the 1970s.

I also loved all the scenes with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and I wish he was in the movie a lot more. Hell, I might've preferred to have seen a movie only about Lester Bangs.

You're correct! I forgot Timothy Spall was in "The King's Speech".

Of course, he's been in a billion other things, too! :)

Almost Famous by a landslide. Many of my points were already brought up. The bootleg cut has a great deleted scene where William tries to prove to his mom that rock has merit by making her listen to Stairway To Heaven in it's entirety!. Unfortunately Cameron could not get the rights for the song so it did not make it into the movie. They say to sync the song with the scene but I enjoy watching it without because the sister's boyfriend let's you know know exactly where you are in the song if you are a fan. Thanks, I guess I am watching this tonight.

That Thing You Do is probably a nine, maybe and eight in my book.

Rock Star is a guilty pleasure, but not in a league with the other two. It would be funny to have Wahlberg's Boogie Nights final scene tacked on to the end of Rock Star!:)

Thread crap and I'm sorry but do you like Wonder Boys? Between her and the three male leads I have a hard time deciding who was more amazing.

I saw Almost Famous about two months ago and thought it was a fantastic film. The version I saw was about two-and-a-half hours long which I thought was a crazy length for a film that was neither art house nor blockbusting action movie, so I assume I saw this "Bootleg" version?

I'd never even heard of Rock Star, never mind seen it.

Rock Star is loosely based on when Halford left Judas Priest and the band had a cover band singer take over for Halford.

If you saw Kyle from Tenacious D playing a dj who falls asleep during a radio interview, then you saw the bootleg cut.
