Crossroads is a collective of something like 15 different sellers all in the same place, many sellers specializing in certain genres. Between all the vendors there is pretty much no artist or genre you won't be able to find in my experience. Lots of fair pricing too.

Zia is a dump. The worst record store in Phoenix. The worst record store I've been to in any state. Its run by kids who work there as a first job that know zero about records. Check out The 'In' Groove on 34th St And Thomas. The best record store in the state.

It's actually about 35 sellers with their own spaces, as well as a few consigners mixing their stock into the Crossroads-owned space. Used stereo gear, record supplies and concert posters, too.

I think everyone mentioned the obvious best stores- Amoeba SF/LA, Princeton, Rasputin, Sister Ray London, etc and I can't disagree. So I'm adding three that I dearly loved that are long gone:

    1. Main Street Records, Northampton Mass - the first great store I used to go, we'd drive 45 minutes to get there.
    2. Record Breaker, Manchester CT - just an all around great shop. Killer import section to spark my 16 year old imagination back in the day.
    3. Mod Lang, Berkeley CA - not sure when this one closed although it looks like they trade online. Their buyer or owner used to have similar tastes to mine so I'd always find things I wanted.

Is the Scarborough location that much better than the Portland one? I used live in Maine and still go back for a visit every summer so asking if you think it's worth a trip to the Scarborough shop- never been to that one, don't think it was open when I lived there 10 years ago. Thanks.

I'm a big fan of these stores. Along with some others mentioned these are tried and true, long-standing record stores run by old school dudes who sold vinyl during it's worst and best years. I used to score some great deals at Bagatelle in particular.

I forgot about Everyday Music (across from Elliott Bay?) yes, great store. I completed my Weather Report collection there a few wks ago, four albums, $20, in good condition! All the Silver Platters are pretty good, 1st ave is my fave because it's across from Westland Distillery and next to Ghostfish Brewing (although Ghostfish's beers are kinda meh -gluten free?!).

Tiger Mt? We lived in Mirrormont for 13 yrs before moving down here. You commute to the watershed from Lynnwood?! Many questions...)
