    Suuuuuuuuuuckssssss!! :p

..I wonder, is there a waiting list to become an AF Platinum member? Like do they wait til someone drops out and then email or call you up and say "Hey! There's a membership now if you're still game!"..?

Only last time I searched their site they didn't have any memberships available iirc... :(

Kevin Gray did the Stereo SACD Mastering and Gus Skinas did the Surround SACD Transfer and Mastering from the 4 Channel Analog Master Tape.

I didn't which one of these two threads was active, why are there two threads on the same release?

Anyway, I have really been digging the surround mix on this disc, it is aggressive and very expansive. I am really enjoying this album overall.

I listened to Spectrum.... my new reference! Awesome and dynamic sound. A great reissue by Audio Fidelity.

Has anyone compared the Audio Fidelity stereo CD mastering to the Atlantic CD mastered by Zal Schreiber and can comment on the differences? Is there a big improvement?

I had high expectations for the sonic quality of this release and I have to say I am not disappointed.
Kevin Gray has done an exceptional mastering job on the SACD stereo layer.
There is excellent clarity and the deep bass is very well balanced and punchy - have a listen to Stratus with Lee Sklar's driving bass and Billy's rhythmic kick drumming.
The whole band is great and it is very easy to identify Bolin's guitar and Hammer's synthesiser in the mix.
I once had the original vinyl and I cannot remember it sounding as good as this.
I find it hard to imagine that there will ever be a better digital version of Spectrum.
I hope Audio Fidelity get around to remastering Crosswinds.
