Like, an album you eagerly awaited for only to be let down?
My vote goes to Chinese Democracy by Axl's GN'R. A huge letdown compared to the hype and expectation.

Sgt. Pepper. I was expecting to hear the greatest album of all time. :sigh: That's my fault for reading the reviews and checking out all the "Greatest Albums of All Time" lists.
As for being disappointed by an album that I was eagerly anticipating, in recent years, I'd say "I'm With You" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

    Exile on Main Street.

It has it's moments.....but not one of their best.

Be Here Now by Oasis. Overblown, bloated and a Beatles parody band. The "in thrall" music press lavished stupidly high praise on it when it came out....only to withdraw later.

Back in the early noughties, when Travis were big in the UK and headlining Glastonbury their third album was highly anticipated. I was quite the fan at the time and was dying to hear it. Finally the day came and I picked it up at the record store, got home and put it on the stereo. I literally fell asleep somewhere in the middle.

I couldn't even tell you the name of the album now, nor if I ever listened to it again to be honest. It was like listening to paint drying.

I think Q magazine were frightened to give out 5 star ratings for years after that. Remember that morning so clearly, queuing up to get the album - probably the last time I ever did that. As overblown as the album was, it was still a great event.

Psychedelic Furs Midnight To Midnight. I was expecting a masterpiece and it was just more songs about hearts and stars...

The Clash - Cut the Crap, I waited months and months for that, kept getting delayed. It should still be delayed to this day.

It's a shame too. The songwriting was still strong.

    Oasis Mistakes:

    1. Using great songs as b-sides instead of saving them for the 3rd album
    2. The production of the songs on Be Here Now

  24. RSD 2016 Doors. Wait in line for hours to get one only to get 2 record 1's and record 3. Quantity not quality. If you can't find time to do it right, when are you going to find time to do it over Rhino? What a bringdown.
