38 years ago yesterday and I can still remember hearing about it. Play a record to remember her, if you will.

Thanks for the reminder. I haven't listened to the box set I have for a long time. Will do so this week.

Going to see the Strawbs next week. I'm hopeful Dave Cousins' tribute to Sandy "Ringing Down The Years" will be played.

I was just spinning "Rising for the Moon" last night. Underrated album, IMHO.

As for Sandy....the best. My favourite female artist bar none.

She's on a short list of performers I really miss not seeing. I had tickets to see Fairport convention in NYC in early 1974 after she rejoined but they cancelled and ended up touring the far east. One of the greatest and purist voices you'll ever hear.

I've really just discovered her catalog of music within the last year or two. It's stunning. She's quickly become my favorite female vocalist. Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, her solo albums....it's all brilliant.

I listen to Sandy quite frequently and have since 1969. We're nearing the 50 year mark for having her recordings and now we're at the 38 year mark of her absence. "Who knows where the time goes" indeed!

Sandy could sing lotto numbers and it would be spellbinding. But I'll play "Fotheringay" instead.

Her days of precious freedom, forfeited long before
To live such fruitless years behind a guarded door
But those days will last no more

Come to think of it, when I discovered YouTube (2006?) one of the very first things I searched for was Sandy Denny. I had never seen any footage of her before then.

I always have a lot of Sandy music nearby, and I'll definitely be playing her solo work and Fairport work today (and on my show this Sunday)...

I was at Bramall Lane today for Sheffield United's game against Barnsley. It's become a bit of a tradition that before the match on the penultimate home game of the season, there's roll-call of names on the big-screen of the fans and, in some cases, players, who we've lost over the past year or so. Black background and one by one names of the dead come up slowly in red. At the end there's a minute's healthy applause to honour them. It's always emotional. I lost my father not so long back and there were tears in my eyes. Being at the games without him doesn't seem right. The soundtrack they played with the roll-call was Sandy's 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes'.

I played Sandy and the Strawbs : All Our Own Work (Numerophon 2LP, 2014) last night. The original album of this was my real intro to Sandy and I still love it.
