Son Of Frankenstein was the first I saw at my grandmother's on late night tv in around 1959/60. I was 4 or 5 and absolutely loved it. It is probably my favorite of all of them. Lugosi is superb as Ygor. Thank goodness I had a cool nite owl grandma who let me stay up with her. She even popped popcorn. I bought the Aurora Frankenstein model about a year later. I still have one in my "man-cave" right next to my Classics Illustrated Frankenstein comic book. The King of the monsters.
Yes! Bernie is a genius. Nice post man! And a wealth of magic from Bernie Wrightsons book. A must have for Frank's fans. Nice
Caught 'Bride of Frankenstein' a few weeks ago on our local MeTV Saturday night monster flick series. It was a pretty nice print of the film but after reading this thread,I ordered this blu-ray box from Amazon. For some reason the U.K. import was less than half of the same U.S. box.It works out to be less than $4.00 per movie if anyone is interested.Great deal imho.
Yes, but it's only available as part of a 4-movie set called "Karlof & Lugosi Horror Classics". FYI, the other 3 films in the collection are: The Walking Dead (1936), You'll Find Out (1940), and Zombies on Broadway (1945).
Yes, that is photo shopped but Lillian (Yvonne) was good looking anyway. Her looks may be part of the reason Herman had such a "big head".
Ha, I bought that one a short while ago. Very nice set for a pretty decent price. And it even includes a 3D version of "The Creature from the Black Lagoon".
Anyone know if the 2013 DVD reissue of Frankenstein Unbound is uncut? The original DVD from 2006 was edited in a couple spots, but I've never been able to find a review of the reissue that mentions whether it's the same print as the original disc, or an uncut version....
Wrightson is such an amazing talent. I grew up with his work. House of Mystery, House of Secrets, and Man-Thing are all time favorites.
I've never cared for Bride of Frankenstein too much. I always found it much too swishy. Now, the original Frankenstein, now there's something, as well as the Hammer efforts.
