Can't imagine the album without it.

The first time I heard a bootleg of Heather's "vocal", I went from being gobsmacked to annoyed to laughing uncontrollably by the time someone (Paul?) cut her off.

Is it just me or does anyone else detect mild hints of "Get Off My Cloud" in John's vocal and the Rascals' "Good Lovin" in Billy's organ?

The edit works well, not letting a repetitive joke overstay its welcome. I like the longer edit that Glynn Johns did too, but it's pretty rough in parts. Why get rid of one of the few fun moments from those sessions?

Cutting this off of LET IT BE NAKED was puzzling. If anything I would have liked to have the long version added to the 2nd CD (along with a bunch of other stuff like Suzy Parker) instead of the "fly On The Wall".

The 4-minute version is interesting, but it just works a lot better as a segue to LIB.
Four minutes is a bit much. Not much of a song there, to be honest.

Both "Dig It" and "Maggie Mae" are favorites of mine.

I think both LIB and LIB Naked have their virtues. To me, they sound like two different albums compiled by different people with a different approach on each. So I think Dig It really belongs on LIB and yet I don't miss it at all on Naked.

It's a bit odd that Macca -of all people- preferred a more sanitized tracklist. His first solo/Wings-albums were littered with those kind of detours.

The album is a lot more fun.

Hoo-boy... I mean, if the movie isn't a sour document of a rockband going through the motions I don't know what else is...
All what I learned from it is that the split happened at the right time.

  8. Dig it is awful. A piece of crap that the band improvised something that wasn't their strong suit.

And a significant aspect which is often forgotten to the filming "about a band trying to make a new album" is that they were trying to compose and rehearse an album in a very cold cavernous film studio with a film crew buzzing around. Even if you put aside their personal and business stressors, that's not a very positive creative environment.

  10. Worthless track. It lacks the goofy charm of Maggie May and does not compensate with anything interesting. Fortunately they edited it to a merciful length.

I don't think 'goofy charm' has been associated with that song and its lyrics before.

    Yeah, it's quite weird...
Like trying to make a documentary about aquatic life in a swimming pool.
It doesn't make sense at all. What's more of a hassle; moving a film crew into a recording studio or trying to recreate a recording studio inside of a film studio?

Has a longer edit of this track every been released? As far as I'm concerned, the only thing wrong with Let it Be is that it did not include "Don't Let Me Down" and a longer edit of "Dig It."

    I agree 100%.

I love the full version of "Dig It" as it appears in the film.

Some kind SHF soul sent me that edit on a CD-R many moons ago.

And why they didn't include "Don't Let Me Down", which is better than most, if not all of the songs on the album, is beyond me.

Thanks for the info  -- I have a bootleg LP of (one of) the Glyn Johns mixes, maybe that has the full version.

    I'll check it out.

I believe this is the longest circulating mix of the 'master' take:
