A few years back, I was looking for the DVD but nothing came up in the searches. I seem to recall that I had the VHS tape many years back.

I thought that it was strange that there was no DVD was available.

In checking Amazon, I see that is one now. I checked and it was released in February of 2014.

There's also a new, official poster by Tim Doyle, which is pretty fantastic:

I went for the rainbow foil variant, and received number 28/55. It's currently at the framers:

That's odd as I bought one online around 2010 which is a two disc set.
This is a 4K Blu-ray release (brand new).

There have been multiple DVD and BD releases over the years, notably the Anchor Bay DVD (R1), the Criterion DVD and BD (R1/A), and the Optimum BD (RB).

@mikaal Sounds like you have either the Anchor Bay or the Criterion two-disc DVD set (the latter came with a reprint of Walter Tevis's novel).

    Searching eBay, I am finding:

Blu-ray disk from Japan that was released in March of 2015.

    Video Disk.

    VHS Tape.

Region free English language DVD from Korea.

A 2-disc Letterboxed CD set from the UK that was released in February of 2003 and is out of print. This may be what you have.

BTW, Just watched Roeg's Walkabout CD, just a few days ago.

Yeah, I really need this one in 4K. Isn't that like twice the resolution needed to reproduce a 16mm Bolex double exposure of a butterfly over an oil derrick?

I'd say mine's the Anchor Bay. No novel.
If they've cleaned up the print and gussied up the colours I'm in.

Is it 4K UHD, or just standard 1080p Blu-ray?

The new disc is sourced from a 4K restoration.

Just for general information; the copy of the novel that Criterion inclided in the DVD is the revised version, with later re-written material (particularly at the end, with the Nixon references added). If anyone is gonna read the book, they should really track down the originally published version. Shame Criterion couldn't have included that with their BluRay (even if just onscreen).

    Indeed.

I've owned five different printings of the novel over the years, but never found a first edition. I'm sure they're out there, but at what price I don't know.

The release date has been bumped to 24 October.

I did see the new restoration on the big screen, a few weeks ago; thought it looked excellent.

I watch an old copy on the UK TV recently. I now don't feel I need to see the restoration. :(

Fair enough, and I hold out hope, but frankly even the old Criterion Blu Ray was pretty darn good. I'm sort of nervous they won't do better than that....

I'm watching the DVD of this now (I don't have a blue ray player) but to me it doesn't look as sharp or colourful as I remember the Criterion one (with the book) to be. I don't know where I've put it though so I can't say for definite - it's just my impression.
Since I last watched it I have gone from a Cathode Ray TV to lcd and straight glasses to varifocals, and aged about five or ten years, so I might be totally wrong. Picture is good enough for me.
It's an impressive boxed set for £20 though, even if some of the photo postcards are printed a bit dark.

I've got a copy with the Low cover. It's nice but it's not a first edition I don't think.

There were at least two printings of the 1976 Pan paperback with the George Underwood painting on the cover. The first printing is the one that mentions the forthcoming soundtrack album on the rear.

The true first edition is the U.S. paperback from 1963.

The Criterion leaned toward red skin tones. The new StudioCanal BD looks, to me, to have a more natural colour palette.
