Picked this up yesterday. I believe it's a Barnes and Noble vinyl exclusive (black vinyl.)

I think it's odd that the cover of pretty much every modern Christmas/Holiday album trying to be hip takes its stylistic cue from Christmas, 1953.

    - If you listen to this particular album, at least, the entire thing is basically pulling from that time period. So at least with this it makes sense! Personally, I love it, even though that Crosley record player irks me every time I see that cover! Ha!

Sarah McLachlan's Wintersong is getting a repress.

She's doing a holiday show with James Taylor & Jimmy Buffet in Brooklyn in a few weeks.

She sounds very much like Karen Carpenter. Nice song.

    - Yes! I wondered why this wasn't being reissued on vinyl! I listened to her new Christmas album, and it didn't impress me as much as this one has.

I've decided not to get it. I felt that the performances were flat and uninspired which is the total opposite of her first one.

Easter. James has seen fire, rain, and those black licorice jelly beans that nobody wants.

For those of you who may have missed this when it was released thousands of years ago, the Randy Van Horne Singers album Sleighride is a perfect early 60's album which is available on iTunes and on CD (at an amazing price). The digital and CD releases were prepared from the original Everest Records Stereo masters and the sound is fabulous. The Randy Van Horne Singers' voices are imprinted in our memories because they're the ones who sang The Flinstones and The Jetsons theme songs. The songs on the album have been lovingly arranged and performed. Give it a try if you haven't already. :)

For those who prefer vinyl, second hand copies of both the original Mono and Stereo pressings can probably be found at your local record shops.

Mobile (Alabama) and Hattiesburg (MS, but about 90 miles away) are the closest. We had a couple, but Hurricane Katrina claimed both of them.

I'm really hoping we don't have to wait another 12 years for a vinyl issue of Midwinter Graces by Tori Amos (she seems keen on 20th anniversary reissues right now). That would make her 65 when it comes out!

I don't play it often, but when I do, it's my favourite Christmas album.

I love that CD as well. Vinyl would be smashing.

Thanks. Found it on Spotify. The first few bars and the cover made this a winner already.

    Will save it for December.

I was in Cracker Barrel yesterday grabbing a pie and saw that they had an exclusive Reba McEntire Christmas CD so I picked it up for 9 bucks... as of now, I am 1 Christmas CD shy of 700 in my collection.
