The first two were surprisingly good, so I'll definitely be interested in this one as well.

First one -James Franco was kinda depressing, follow up better.
I liked the Tim Burton one.

Not only that, I thought the second was the better one.

Woody is closer to an ape than any other human I can think of. Inspired casting.

That trailer was about as generic as it gets.

Not one numb nut on the production realized the line should have been "...this is our last stand. And if we lose. It will be (THE) planet of (THE) apes." Twice as powerful and referential.

"It will be a planet of apes" Gimme a break. I hate lousy copy.

I have to disagree with you here. Try saying your version back and it just doesn't sound natural and besides that, the original title is Planet of the Apes, not (The) Planet of the Apes.

Enjoyed the first two in this series and really looking forward to this one.

We enjoyed the the first remake the most by far. The second was okay but moved to be too much action movie and not enough interesting story. If this trailer is to be believed, this one looks like all generic war/action movie with apes just happening to be the one side. I'm sure we'll end up renting or buying it for the collection, but...

I agree, the line is fine the way it is delivered. Its natural to say "it will be a planet of apes" in that context. It would be awkward and lame (imo) to force the title of the movie into the dialog.

Because the first two movies in this reboot were so enjoyable, I'm certainly in for this one. But I cannot help but think we're in for another "Hobbit - Battle of the Five Armies", all battle razzle-dazzle, no substance. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.

I've enjoyed the two more recent remakes and hope this continues to keep the vibe going.

The last one with apes with bomb swinging in trees already jumped the ape in my book. It was an barely tolerable movie with a lame generic script and an amateurish cast. This trailer is like every modern trailer A series of unconnected action shots (because there's probably no story to speak of) with a narrator intoning some heavy inspiring war speech in voice over. "We will never surrrender....) beat the war drum. So generic, so uncreative.

To older (more experienced?) viewers who've seen every variable and trope yes, to the younger audience this is aimed at not so much. If anything the motion capture/CGI will show where Weta is in 2016 and so far it looks pretty good.

I almost get a little Colonel Kurtz vibe from Woody's character.

I've read an article on the technical challenges WETA faces in this production. Their big rendering breakthrough centers around realistically depicting how snow attaches to fur and snow walking - the gait in deep snow, footfalls, tracks, etc.

    Looking forward to seeing it.

Looks like you have a wild deranged animal with a bone to pick...And then you have the apes.

  24. I for one welcome our ape overlords and want to remind them that being in the procurement business means I can be useful at supplying all their Banana needs.

Bananas (Cavendish) is a highly threatened species today, so in the future when our ape overlords take over, you may be out of luck with your procurement strategy! :)
