Either that, or Fuji tapes are a total ripoff of Axia.

Since no one has ever heard of Axia, and Fuji is known worldwide, I would give the nod to Fuji.

Just skimmed this - bringing back memories indeed. Born in the late 70s and spent mid 80s to mid 90s juggling and cherishing these things. Was drawn to TDK for some reason; and remember using the posh 'metal' ones for favourite albums thinking they must be better!...

I had a Bell & Howell cassette changer when I was in high school! I think it held six cassettes, but my memory is fuzzy on the amount. I can't find a picture online and I definitely don't remember the model number to refine my search, but look what I DID find --

An RCA 8 TRACK changer! I know this isn't really the right thread for it, but I never knew there was such a thing!

There are some cool videos on youtube demonstrating these 8-track changers.

Effective campaign. Hardly anyone is home taping anymore.

I could never adjust my Nakamichi decks to get as good results with these as with TDK or Maxell equivalents.

    Be glad they didn't.

Agreed. I was always able go get a neutral sound out of them. They never had the "pop" that a Nak could get out of a good TDK or Maxell tape.

They managed to evade my radar. Nobody I knew ever had one, I never saw any ads for them, and I never came across one in a store! I wonder how they slipped me by?

I have two of these around 1982 (and still have them) but Hi-Bias version:

They were expensive for what they were (I thought SA-TDK was a much better tape) but they looked so cool!! I regretted not buying more, but at the same time I do not regret buying more. After a while, they started to squeak!

I've not seen one of those since I was a kid! I think my older brother had one and i was fascinated with it, it was cool looking back then.

SA-X is far from "long-forgotten" - they were well loved!

Did anyone get the chance to buy one of these limited edition SA-TDKs? I bought 2, one to open and one still sealed in the wrapper (to this day!):

I wish TDK had kept manufacturing one blank cassette type to this day and that would be the SA. Used to use them religiously and nearly always got good results, even compared to other brands chrome offerings.

colinu I'm not lazy, I'm energy saving!

I have one. When I thinned my cassette collection I kept those with unusual packaging.

I had a few of those. That case was incredibly dumb.

SAs were awesome I had a million of them. The AD was my personal favorite though they weren't as easy to find because on stuff like boom boxes and cars that didn't have high bias they sounded better.
