No I didn't. I posted it because I wasn't certain how widely known this announcement was given its limited pressing and there might be some members who would be interested.

Thanks for getting back to me, @Pigalle. :)

How about anybody else? Does anyone have a comment on the sound quality or performance regarding either of these two live Jam releases?

I just put on my UK pressing of Dig The New Breed to get a little live Jam action going this morning. I didn't think I'd be making the Thanksgiving turkey rocking out to The Jam. They are so American! ;)

    hi there !

they seem to be releasing this boxset on vinyl ……. i have the newcastle show which i think they released first, a while ago ……. you can hear snippets of all the songs at amazon.uk ….. i wasn't too impressed by the SQ of the vinyl … tho …. played it once to check it … haven't played it since. (i LOVE the jam too btw ….. they were THE band for me growing up in high school)

Amazon.co.uk: jam fire and skill: Digital Music »

i was just listening to the 100 club show (on cd) and it's full of incredible energy ……. but i'm personally hesitant on buying it as it'll end up being quite expensive after it's shipped to canada ….. and i'm not sure if it'll translate well to vinyl (tho it might end up being the best sounding one translated to vinyl, out of the entire 'fire and skill' boxset) ……. weller's guitar is so buzzsaw and that it too easily combines with the cymbals and can become a grating wash (while listening on speakers) …….. on the flipside, if that is tamed on the vinyl then that would be great, the bass opens up after a few songs as well, but is unfortunately panned to the right a bit ……….. the only way i listen to this boxset is on colored wireless sennheiser headphones, that beef up the bottom end and tame the top end ……. playing the cds thru my powered monitors introduces a lot of grating frequencies ……. my 2 cents …… and doesn't make for a prolonged enjoyable listen …….. the jam, to me have always been a band that was never well recorded live (the best sounding live jam i own is a bootleg LP (all mod cons era) of a show at the rainbow)

I saw quite a lot of The Jam live as I was the right sort of age and living in London. The shows never sounded great live although the energy and commitment were staggering. Weller's voice and the sound of the band was a bit one dimensional and the crowd (like The Clash) were hard work and made up of obnoxious yobs (sorry to any other SHF members who were there!).

Thanks for that link. I did find that link but I have never purchased from them so didn't use it -apologies. I still couldn't find Hammersmith at Amazon UK or on the above Universal site. My advice to fans out there is grab one while you can.
Just looking at their site and ordering set up and it is similar to Universal- strange times we live in. Still a limited release with Brighton to come.

Universal love Record Store Day, but also seem to love these releases where they actively don't let record retailers sell them. Nice.

These vinyl re-issues clearly aren't that limited, and hardly interesting in the first place are they?

Live At The Music Machine is available from Amazon. Newcastle has sold out. Reading and Music Machine were interesting enough for me to buy them

I just bought the Music Machine pressing from Amazon. Trying to find some of the others. The Reading LP cover looks magnificent.

Newcastle came out forever ago, and you can guarantee that with each pressing the pressing numbers have gone up. Universal are twats for pressing things like this up and not allowing independent record shops to stock them, but using them to shift pointless re-issues on RSD.

i did just find this …… being distributed within canada …. i believe musicvaultz also has the abbey road half speed masters as well ….. (i had pre-ordered 'exile on main street' direct from the UK tho)

this makes acquiring this LPs much more economical for us fans across the pond ….

I do of course agree, although it hasn't translated that well as an avatar image.

I recall seeing a figure 1,500 for the exclusive editions, but that seems to have disappeared from the current listings; perhaps it's been adjusted either way according sales. I don't have a problem getting them direct from Universal (although I got Music Machine from Amazon) as I'm just pleased that they're issued.

The two I have are mastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road and are a big improvement over the Fire & Skill lossless download I have, and the sleeves and inners are well done.
