"Mexican Shuffle" has never been a true stereo track. On its original album (SOUTH OF THE BORDER), its balance was shifted slightly left to give it a slight simulated stereo effect, but it was always a mono track. In all of the many stereo compilations that have used the track, it has always had that slightly left shift. EXCEPT, when it appeared on the Shout Factory reissue of SOUTH OF THE BORDER. Then, and only then, it was given a true mono appearance.

Of course you can also find the true mono sound on the original single, original mono album, and the rare DEE JAY SAMPLER mono edition.

Does the sound quality on the bulk of "SOUNDS LIKE..." now -try?- to match-up with the eq of the Casino Royale track?
I understand: different studio/different location (U.K.) --- but, one of my peeves about every original incarnation of that album has been: 95% of it always sounded so dull and muffled. Then, boom(!), Casino Royale comes on and there's treble again:goodie:!
    Have these reissues fixed that?

Listening to Warm again now - it sounds like a Needledrop - lots of drop-outs and crackle and distortion...Anyone agree / disagree?

There is a lot of distortion, particularly on the majestic opening track, "The Sea Is My Soil". Apparently there has been some damage over the years to the master and that's the best it gets. I still use my old LP as the go-to for that track.
