Right after I graduated and moved, they filmed Jumanji with Robin Williams in Keene, NH. You can see my apartment building in this scene, the red brick building between the two church steeples.
Saturday Night Live spoofs The Chi-Lites and other sweet soul groups, 1978: Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Michael Palin, Dan Aykroyd. In his memoirs Palin details the painstaking choreography and rehearsals the cast went through for for this sketch. All for nought -- the bit was cut from the final broadcast before airtime.
This week's: FRIDAY NIGHT BOYS: FRIDAY NIGHT BOY COOL #387 ...including: There has to be some explanation... And one more I better not post here, but let's just say that if that job ever came up, I'd be there like a shot!
Happened to have come across this thread today...AMAZING! Many thanks to the posters & especially those who take the time to label who they are for those of us not quite so "in the know" Cheers
Now playing at FRIDAY NIGHT BOYS: FRIDAY NIGHT BOY COOL #390 Here's five from that bunch: Whose face has been cut off at the left? Carry Grant? Amongst other highlights - Harpo giving his leg to Margaret Dumont and Peter Sellers eating chips/fries...
That picture of a dead Clyde above is amazing. The pipe in director's mouth adds to the whole surrealness (if there is such a word).
The Rosemary's baby shot is a Willoughby. I have a photo of that scene being actually shot. Very cramped quarters, multiple people on the bed, the camera literally inches from Farrow's nose.
What exactly is a Willoughby (other than a place where you can "slow down to a walk and live life to its fullest")?
he was a famous photographer who did a lot of behind the scenes shooting on 'big' movies in the 50's and 60's. Bob Willoughby - Wikipedia
A bit later, but there's another set of pictures up: FRIDAY NIGHT BOYS: FRIDAY NIGHT BOY COOL #392 Some highlights:
Thanks, Ed! The picture of Mrs. Roosevelt with all the stars (including Laurel and Hardy!) is wonderful. It literally almost brought a tear to my eye to see so much talent gathering at the White House to support their country and the soldiers who were giving their all in WW II.
I tried enlarging the picture but the resolution wasn't strong enough. The easy ones to spot besides Stan and Babe are Charlotte Greenwood, Cagney, Pat O'Brien, Hope, Bert Lahr, Jerry Collonna, Claudette Colbert. The guy to the left of Hope looks a bit like Cary Grant but I can't tell for certain. I'm sure Google would offer more names.
