I like parts of each album until XI. There aren' t too many that I enjoy in their entirety. TCA, V, VI and bits of VIII still do it for me though. There are a couple of great Terry Kath moments on VIII.

What's the first album? I stopped before that.

Never heard a song by the band.

For some reason I get the impression they are rubbish.

Thanks for stopping by. Tell me, which artists are your favorites? That way I can drop into one of their threads and do the same as you have here.

There isn't even a start for me, bands like Chicago, Toto, Foreigner etc all have fantastic musicianship but their material is just so terribly dull.

Love the first 3 albums because of the complex arrangements. I look for this stuff in all the music I choose to buy.

Ok I can agree with you here.

The chances of going your entire life without hearing one Chicago song sometime someplace is absolutely zero.

ONce Peter left I stop, though I have enjoyed watching youtube vids of the group afterwards up to the present. The horn section is fun to watch and I like those guys.

    I enjoy them all

I don't give up on groups just because a certain member departs for whatever reason - nor do I stop watching TV shows because a regular cast member leaves the show etc...

mind you a guy I know steadfastly REFUSES to listen to anything by any band once an original member goes...nor will he watch a TV show if any original cast member leaves the show etc

he gave up on 'Mission: Impossible' after season one in 1966

and James Bond films after 1967....

    he's very fickle

To me, X and XI are just equally good. I call them Chicago's twin albums.

You can also give up listening to a band's later albums after a certain original member departed but remain a big fan of the albums of the original lineup.

    Do they not play songs?

No wonder I've never heard them before.

    Just instrumental music?

    It could happen.

He could have been born and raised in Papua New Guinea and didn't own a radio, perhaps.....

That's interesting that a band could have success just doing instrumentals and spoken word music.

So is their style mostly jazz/easy listening?
