Sgt. Pepper's to be rereleased on 1 June with two extra tracks - Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane - according to U.K. newspaper The Sunday Times today. According to "sources", Apple Corps, the Beatles' company, will reinstate the tracks, just as Lennon and McCartney had intended.

That would be very cool but seems so unBeatle like.

If this happens I imagine it will be a remix as well

I can confirm that I too read this in the Sunday Times 5th March 2017. Wonder where they will put the 2 tracks?

Will they be slapped on the end or shoehorned in somewhere?

As long as they're committing sacrilege, they may as well open the album with the 'extra' songs

Wonder if it is a remix.

No mention of remixing or mono/stereo but the report which may be online somewhere indicated that Paul, Ringo, Olivia and Yoko are all behind the project.

There is more to this than just adding Penny Lane and SFF. Instead of thinking about where those 2 songs will go, think more than 1 disc. The exact configuration is still to be determined.

I can't wait! It's nice to see they're finally re-releasing it! It's been out of print sooooooo long.

  10. Even if it's a remix I'll pass if those 2 songs everybody already owns are all the bonus material they can come up with.

I think they'd be better placed after "Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite" i.e. between the two sides of the album. The title track must start the "show" and nothing should follow "A Day In The Life".

What that'll increase play time to 45 minutes? Won't buy the vinyl version of that.

    Reissued without peak limiting?

    Release Geoff Emerick's remaster?

Put Ghandi back on the cover?

I bet it's a remix with the two tracks inserted with Paul and Ringo's thoughts. Probably will sound similar to the remixed tracks on LOVE. My 80's Sgt Pepper mono bootleg had the original intended track order

wouldn't mind a "sessions" style box but agree that this basic idea doesn't seem likely when its worded like this: "reinstate the tracks, just as Lennon and McCartney had intended."

Maybe this is the "psychedelic project" Giles was refering to in one interview when asked what is he working on at the moment?

  24. The album is gonna be a little tougher to play once they glue those 7" ers to each side.

For the two people left who are not yet aware, June 1 is exactly the date for the 50th anniversary of initial release. Looks like I was wrong when I voted "Nothing." Wouldn't 5.1 be great?
