Yes, on the LP In the Mood (World Pacific WP-1859 mono, WP-21859 stereo). The rest of the album consists of Glenn Miller covers, and then the last song on Side 2 is "The Dating Game."

It was also on a mono 45, World Pacific 77863.

    mistaken for Pat Benatar.

    Weak excuses*:
Heard on cheap radios, store soundsystems, & booming bassheavy P.A.'s.
Added: plus stop following Pat when she went back to "standards". So just thought it was something that came after the concerts i went to & the records i brought.
    Still a fail; i know!

    * that's all i got; cause now on a decent sound system can hear her inflections are clearly not like Pat's.

Urban myth. Every live recorded version of "Something" by Sinatra has him crediting George. He once mentioned Lennon and McCartney in an intro in NYC shortly after John's murder (which was probably on his mind at the time). The one-time out-of-context quote was reported in the press, and it has been blown way out of proportion ever since. (Including by Paul, apparently.) Sinatra knew who wrote the song.

I was just supplying Paul's quote from Anthology, but thanks for the lesson, Mr. F. When's the quiz? ;)

I used to work in a record store and had to endure these mis-attributions on a daily basis.

Two that we heard quite frequently:

"Wild Thing" by The Troggs was by The Rolling Stones and
"American Woman" by The Guess Who was by Led Zeppelin.

:kilroy: Yes, this one. Trivia: It was co-composed by Chuck Barris.

That made me laugh out loud. Someone put together a picture slideshow/montage of Elvis and put the Platters song as the music track. Too funny.

That's hysterical, probably because I can see that happening. I actually laughed out loud when I read that....thanks for the laugh!

How does a radio DJ get the artist wrong when the disc (or automation computer screen) is right in front of him?

Actually, I can see a casual fan making that mistake. Makes more sense than most of the others I'm seeing, especially people mistaking Rockwell for Michael Jackson. Man, they aren't anywhere close!

Here in Blighty, Bruce Hornsby's "The way it is" was oft mistaken for the Belfast cowboy.

I thought for a long time that I Saw The Light and Hello It's Me were both by Carole King.
To top it off I thought Jazzman was Todd Rundgren.

    Same artist (mis)credited on "It's A Heartache."

I was thinking some other miscredits in the back of my mind I've heard over the years walking through the streets of NYC . . .
    - David Bowie on "Don't You Forget About Me"
    - Stevie Wonder on "Automatic"
    - The Monotones (of "Book Of Love" fame) on "Remember Then"
    - Todd Rundgren on "More Today Than Yesterday"
    - Bruce Springsteen on "Walking In Memphis"
    - conversely, Joe Cocker on "Born In The U.S.A."
    - Phoebe Snow on "I Love The Nightlife"
That, my ears never got . . . see just above.

Given that Mark Hudson would later produce Ringo, that wrong impression of the time was especially ironic.

Speaking of which, I'm sure I'm repeating if mentioning how many assumed this to be CCR.

Far too complicated (and long) for The Ramones' style.

But Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" has Michael Jackson performing on it, so I can see where the error comes from there.

Hey, I guess some people think Bob Marley was so talented he could create catchy Pop-Reggae song about six years after he died! :)

Interestingly, there is a Bob Marley song reference in the song "Bad Boys", though. From Wikipedia....
