Can we change this to a pricing/availability thread please?

I believe Amazon.com and possibly bull moose in the U.S. are the only places listing this.

Discs 5-8 are Zuma, On The Beach, Time Fades Away and Tonight's The Night.

Discs 8.5-12 are Long May You Run (Stills-Young Band), Comes A Time, American Stars 'N Bars, Rust Never Sleeps and Live Rust.

Will there be a matching gold disc set as there was for volumes 1-4?

Will the entire unedited Live Rust album be on that CD (finally)?

Was it a length issue that kept the complete Live Rust off the old CD?

Hopefully. The LP runs 75:32 give or take a few seconds, if wikipedia's track times are correct.

If they do I will avoid it, it was a lot of extra cash for the same mastering.

Yeah, had a 74 minute limitation on the CDs back then.

FWIW the Pono version of this album matched the unedited original LP, so if they are working from the same master for the CD, the chances are good.

To be fair, the cancelled CD was heavily bootlegged, so an official mastering is out there (in HDCD too!)

Wonder if they'll use the same exact disc?

I'm hoping this means Archives 2 may be upon us. Ain't holding my breath, but anything that could have Homegrown, the original Tonight's the Night and Chrome Dreams on it straight from the first generation master tapes would be stupendous, better than Archives 1.

Amazon Canada now has them listed. Current pre sale has them at $58CAD and $62CAD.

I hope these discs will be in HDCD, as the first four were (I think?). I don't think that Neil's recent album releases have been HDCD, so I guess I'm not holding out too much hope. I have a player that decodes it and have generally noticed the sonic improvement vs. playing the same disc on a different player without the ability to decode HDCD.

Of course, it would be even nicer if Neil would go ahead and put out the entire "Original Release Series" on blu-ray audio disc. I had actually expected him to do this not too long after the first Archives box was released, but it never materialized. Shortly after, he stopped releasing his new albums on blu-ray audio as well. I do expect the eventual Archives 2 box to be released in the same formats as the first volume was.

Do these come with an extra booklet or simply the jewel cases? I can't believe Time Fades Away will be on CD, finally! What's next, Archives 2 (who am I kidding)?

I'm a vinyl guy, but I'm glad that Neil is doing this since there is clearly a demand for it!

8.5-12 ends with Live Rust.. Does it mean that the hypothetical Archives Vol. 2 will extend to 1978/1979 period and not 1981 as initially planned?

I don't think one necessarily has anything to do with the other.

Even If Neil does an Archives Vol. 2, who knows what format he'll use or if he'll even go chronologically or with the same number pattern. For all we know the next one could be Archives Vol. D and cover 1986 - 1988.

Neil doesn't control the Geffen era, does he? A putative "Archives vol. 3" starting in 1979 might potentially be a very weird collection.

Neil will get the full control on the Geffen albums in 2023 for a Us copyright rule. The first album, Trans, 31 December 2017.

Am I wrong to remember that some review copies of the HDCD reissue TIME FADES AWAY did sneak out, artwork included?
