I remember years and years ago hearing a Yes song but for the life of me Ive never been able to find it.

All I can remember is the song had the word "Yes Yes Yes" in it followed by chorus etc etc

  4. That was my first thought too.

(I hadn't yet gotten to the song title, but I'm practically positive there's a key song from Drama that fits the bill).

Only a matter of time before the usual suspects show up to let the world know who should or shouldn't be Yes.

Uh oh, here comes the Bruford/White arguments. We all know Yes isn't Yes withouth Jon.

I actually like the Drama album and have always seen it as the catalyst for Yes' resurgence in the mid-80's with 90125 and the Trevor Rabin era. Machine Messiah, Tempus Fugit and Into the Lens are the strong points of that record.

The song got a lot of air-play in New York (WPLJ, or WBAB, or WNEW), when I was a young lad!

    Ah you started it

  11. Drama is a fantastic album. If anything, it's especially nice to hear Chris Squire's voice perhaps a bit more than usual on it.

Oh, I think the Drama line-up just about counts.

    Love Tempus Fugit.

Not the best Yes album, not the worst. Same goes for the tour.

"Drama" showed the fire missing in the previous LP "Tomato". that Squire, White, and Howe knew that, and that's what made "Drama" a pretty good album. To me, it succeeds on that. It helped them kind of rebuild Yes.
In those days, the 3 years between "Drama" and "90215" was a LONG time!

Definitely better than Tormato, which is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.

Not as good as Going For The One, though, or any others of the classic run.

Machine Messiah, is a monster, though.

Tempus Fugit - My favourite track from Drama which is a great album for the most part, and a very good album aaprt from that. Saw the band live, and couldn't understand the stick Trvor got. He's a great singer and should have been given a chance.

I suspect many fans of prog dislike it because it leads into Asia forming.........

No comments from me either way, and it's not as if any encouragement is required from the select few either.

  17. I've always felt that bands like Yes and King Crimson were part of a larger scope of music exploration, that went beyond the parts that made them up.

I was watching a DVD a buddy had called Yes History, and it was clear from the very start that the revolving door of musicians would be an ongoing part of the whole of both bands.

But to the OP, I am happy you have your answer. Magnificent track!

Crimson did have relative stability, personnel-wise, during early 80's through mid 90's.

How long before "Geddy Lee filling in for Chris Squire" shows up in the thread?

The funny thing is, although Drama was the better album, Tormato, had much the better tour.

Even the Tormato studio songs kind of shone live.

  22. This is true, Fripp started his ideas of expansion rather than subtraction as time went on during the 80's- 90's and forward. I believe KC has had 21 different members, or was it configurations?

The Drama lineup is my favorite after ABWHS. Although a year apart, I like to imagine a King Crimson-Yes tour of Discipline and Drama in the early 80's. At the very least Trevor wouldn't have strained his voice as much by shortening the set list to not include Yes songs that were hard to sing.

Love both Drama and Tormato. Don't know why either gets hate tbh.
