Any of the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit movies.

The ending to the third Lord of the Rings ruined every movie from that series since I first saw it more than ten years ago. I tried watching one of the more recent movies and couldn't do it. Turned it off.

The last half hour of Return of the King should forever be removed from existence. Wish I could erase it from my memory so I could enjoy the different stories again.

Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Raging Bull--too violent
Yes, the Accused, good choice. I felt like I had to wash after I saw it, cause I'm male.
The John Lennon bio pic, Imagine. The shots of people in central Park sobbing reopen the wound.
Crumb--I can't put my finger on it, but the movie profoundly disturbed me down to my core.

You writing the word 'Brimstone' reminded me of "Brimstone & Treacle"- the 1982 movie starring Sting.
If you all remember it, it was definitely something you don't wanna see again!
However... I STILL own a copy of the soundtrack!

Requiem For A Dream- way too many disturbing images, and a feeling of hopelessness.

yea, I didn't like the movie, it was so slow and plodding. But Sting certainly portrayed one of the sickest movie characters of the decade. The climax (which you see coming) is exceptionally creepy.

Paranormal Activity. Most overrated movie I wish I never saw!

I went into the basement with the lights off to watch this!

Badlands, Gummo, A Fish Called Wanda (that horrible safe dropping on dog scene is burned in my mind).. many films that show disregard for cats and dogs/treated as useless property..

Any movie that shows mammal abuse basically - especially for a laugh - not funny ever. An "after the fact" - say, "a horse's head" in bed to move the plot forward and make a point, forgivable. Wasn't there a Stephen King movie where a burned dog was hanging for a "shock". Ed Harris in it? I dunno. I hate these scenes just don't leave me.

If it's a really funny or good movie - I close my eyes. Actually two films everyone hates, but I love - The Coen Bros. Ladykillers remake (the bulldog commercial mishap) and U-Turn (the blind man's dog) - I just literally close-eyes and fast forward as I know the beats of both films pretty well by now. But disappointed that the Coen Bros. "dropped" to dying dog and IBS jokes for "laughs" - save for the overly dumb football player character, the rest of the film is just too delightful not to enjoy.

  9. So I'm guessing Irreversible has never been on your must-see list.

First one I thought of. My wife and I revisited it some years back, for the first time since we'd become parents. It was like watching a totally different movie in that frame of mind. It zeroed in on a whole set of fears that I don't think I even knew I had (i.e. something horrible happening to your child). When it was over, we looked at each other and said "Never again."

Two others: Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer and Cannibal Holocaust. In both cases, I said "OK, that was a hell of a movie... but yeeesh, I don't ever want to see it again," haha.

I'm sure there's a few of them, one that I'll never forget was seeing The Pianist when it came out and when it was over my reaction was, that movie was amazing. I never want to watch it again.

I don't know that I COULDN'T ever watch it again, but "Amour" is one of the most moving films I have ever seen but one I have little desire to see again. Like John Mellencamp said, "This getting older, it ain't for cowards".

This thread makes me feel a bit sociopathic because I have no problem watching Schindler's List -- one of my favorite films, just impeccably crafted -- even though it's emotionally taxing. But I'll be damned if I'll ever sit through Oliver! or Casino again, not because they trouble me but because I find them totally obnoxious!

100% agree. I am a huge animal lover and I hate to watch anything with animals getting harmed. One that springs to mind is Inside Llewyn Davis, which I thought I would love because of it's focus on the early '60s folk scene, the cast and the fact that it was Coen Brothers.

There is a lot with cats in the movie, including an absolutely heartbreaking scene in which Llewyn leaves a cat he can't take care of in a car by the side of the road. There is a long shot of the cat's sad little face looking up at him with confusion as he shuts the door on it and IT SCARRED ME. I was crying. And then later he hits a cat (maybe the same one) with his car and leaves it by the side of the road.

Never, ever again. I will never watch that movie again. I do not want to see cats in pain.

  17. I just watched this for the first time last week, and yes, that's a hard scene to take. And the wedding scene; did they have to make it as long as the actual wedding and reception? It feels like it's half the movie, with very little of interest happening.
Schindler's List is on everybody's list, including mine.
Alien; the John Hurt death scene. I actually walked out on this movie in the theater, that was more than I could handle.

I will never watch Jack and Jill (Adam Sandler 2011) again. It is quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen.

  19. When Adam Sandler is playing both titular characters, you know it's going to be a train wreck.

It's not on mine.... in fact, I was just thinking recently that I should give it another viewing, as it's been several years since I last watched it.

Any movie where limbs get chopped off. (Except Star Wars stuff because of the lifelike robot hands they get back).

My friends keep telling me that 'Henry' is a great movie. I find psychopathy hard to watch. But then, Cannibal Holocaust is a film I've seen 3 times as well as own. Having studied the Viet Nam war, I can say that there is a LOT going on in this movie that makes it real cinema and not just an attempt to gut your senses so to speak. However, I NEVER recommend it because it is really full of extreme (and extremely well-acted) gore and violence. And I do believe the animals killed were plainly killed for the movie. I don't watch those parts anymore.
