Oh, this looks so good. The trailer is NSFW / kids.

    Frances McDormand
    Woody Harrelson
    Sam Rockwell
    Peter Dinklage
    John Hawkes

Looks like some standard Hollywood there. I think I'll skip it.

Is the audience supposed to sympathise with the Frances McDormand character, or be repulsed?

I loved Bruges and Psychopaths (well yea, Tom is in it). Have to see this.
there is that Coen-ish tone to much of his stuff.

I haven't laughed so much at a trailer for a while. At least I was warned by the article which linked to it. That last scene, interrupting the live news, is great.

  7. looks pretty good. Woody, Sam, and Hawkes have a certain low key presence that make films enjoyable.

I find that trailer interesting, having seen few of the director's films - he has his own way of looking at people, which is not always easy to watch. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Looks like my kind of movie.

  10. I believe both - they're not necessarily mutually exclusive. Think Walter White, Jimmy McGill, etc.

I like it. Only drawback is Woody H -- I've never been a big fan, not in True Detective, or ever.

Lots of profanity, face-spitting, crotch-kicking in just a short trailer, what's not to like.

This is a mother whose daughter has been murdered, and she is not going to quietly accept it. I can hardly wait for this one - I loved "In Bruges".

It's coming soon. I am so pumped. I got my niece's husband (a huge Anderson fan) turned on to this. I'm hoping he'll go back and look at Bruges and Psychopaths.
Trouble is he has two small boys and he travels a lot.

Perhaps that's a question the film is asking the audience itself to decide?

Was in the threater last night, and saw the red-colored "this-trailer-is-approved-for___" slate at the front: I don't recall seeing one before. The trailer unleashed about 7 F-bombs, and I think it was 3 minutes. I understand most theatergoers require a lot more story information before deciding to see something than I do. But I really think I got too much of it to expect to like it when I eventually do see it.

Brian Michael Bendis has a comic on the stands (occasionally) called Scarlet, in which a girl suffers indignities and punishment from the justice system far beyond what she did, and even what they assume she did. The beauty of the story is in how this p*cker-contest between the two of them escalates, and how the reader sits in judgement of what either side can do at this point to get out of the spiral (as well as what metaphor this might possibly be illustrating). I see this movie int he same vain...only with Frances and Woody staring each other down, two actors you would expect to do great service to this conflict.

But, in the end, it's just gonna be the Hatfields and the McCoys, right?

If it doesn't become a huge hit at the box office, it'll be a cult classic imo.

Is she the villain? No. She is righteous. The long trailer makes that clear. I am going this weekend. Can't wait.
