Mud's "Lonely This Christmas" is often credited to Elvis Presley. Les Gray's voice really tried to mimic Elvis' tone; and he succeeded!

My wife thought that too, I learned, until just recently.

Not only did she think it was Carole, she didn't believe it was a guy singing at all when I first tried to correct her!

  5. Lou Christie's "Lightnin' Strikes" is sometimes credited to The Four Seasons.

My friend thought "Jackie Blue" (Ozark Mountain Daredevils) was by Todd Rundgren. (I could have been fooled too, but I had all his early 70's albums and knew it wasn't on any of them.)

So who was it recorded by? I remember hearing this on the radio in seventh grade and I always thought it was The Jackson 5.

In the summer of 1969, for the first few listens, I thought that Thunderclap Newman's "Something In The Air" was the first release by Blind Faith, until the DJ said differently. Sounds very much like Winwood singing.

I'm always amused that people think Bob wrote and performed a song several years after his death. :)

I never even considered that Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac" cover wasn't Aretha Franklin. I just always KNEW that it was. Until about a year ago. DOH! Natalie Cole.

I've heard Silent Lucidity by Queensryche referred to as a Pink Floyd tune. With good reason.

Most Alarm songs sound like U2. A better version of U2 in fact.

I thought Shout and Twist was originally written by the Beatles.
