I had the pleasure of seeing the Wild Reeds last year and immediately bought everything they had available. I'm glad to see them putting out another solid effort.

Copied this from a post I made on another forum (my favorite album of the year thus far):

If you are into lo-fi dreampop (akin to HOOPS but a tad more mellow in spots) with an emotional bent in the lyrics, I highly recommend checking out the Luke Reed album. No details on a physical release yet and right now it is at a name-your-price on bandcamp (also it is on Spotify).

My only (minor) critique is that they could've bumped the guitar and distortion up in a few spots. I really like it a lot though and can't wait to see them again next month.

I am really looking forward to the new Feist album...the first single sounds a lot rawer than previous efforts. It reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on who yet.

    The first single:

Just got this today and playing it now. A beautiful collection of music, made even more poignant by Bruce's current issues. Highly recommended.

Right now I'm listening to Rodney Crowell's new album "Close Ties". 2017 still has a long way to go but this one will be a contender for sure.

Nice, some great artists represented on these discs. Pedal steel guitarist Susan Alcorn was a cool discovery for me, but I've a feeling I'll be looking into quite a few of these artists. I'd never heard guitarist C Joynes either, but this is pretty captivating, coming right after the Steve Gunn acoustic track, really harkens back to the feel and atmosphere of the original album, in this case titled "No Further", the original "No Further Need" ...

:agree: It's very good. Perhaps not as good as some of their best albums but the hooks are still there!

Just checked out these guys and whilst there's no denying they have a terrible terrible name, I'm really digging these tunes. May I present the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.... they released a really great album last year " High Visceral Part 1" and this year Part 2 is released which seems a bit more hard rocking. First thoughts are prefering part 1 but still very worthwhile checking out especially if you are a fan of fellow Aussie psych acts Tame Impala and King Gizz!

Who would have thought that at 64 he'd make one of his best albums? This is ridiculously good. Totally worth the long wait...

I went to the local shop today looking for something, just anything, nothing in mind. After not seeing anything I grabbed the new John Mayer album The Search For Everything. Wow, who knew? One listen and I've a new contender for my best of 2017. Very soulful, some funk. I really really like this and I'm surprised by how much and how soon. One listen and I'm pretty knocked out.

Now if this was the Best Album Of 2008 thread I might mention the Jenny Scheinman self titled album I picked up for $0.99 yesterday. I knew her first from her playing on Bill Frisell albums and then from two other solo efforts that were entirely instrumental featuring her unique violin playing. This one caught me by surprise too. Country-Folk-Rock with vocals from Jenny. Good stuff.
