No worries. There is a lot of ill feeling flying around this thread, and I admit I found myself puzzled with the more extreme "class action" kind of comments, and your comment (which wasn't one of those) just seemed like the place to say that. I should have either sat it out or just made a general comment instead of "replying."

 

Usually Price and Shipping threads here on this forum are filled with information (sometimes excessive), cheerful anticipation, and guarded optimism.

Due to the Amazon.CA "phantom cancellations", there's none of the above, but rather an odd awkward mix of sheer disappointment, sympathetic condolences, and unnecessary reprimands.

This thread begs for a "palate cleanse".

But, like other threads, I guess it'll eventually come around.

 

IME, BB website is reliable in regards to local stock. I always check availability before going to a store. In my area, we still have several large viable Best Buy stores. They typically stock an ample supply of a high profile new release.

 

I would like some guidance on this also. Better to order from the UK or am I OK with a US order?

That's great. But by the time you pay off the credit card you end up paying thst extra discount back

 

No so simple for some folks on this site, obviously.

Look, no one was trying to rip-off Amazon.ca and Amazon.ca isn't trying to rip anyone off.
It was an impossible deal.

 

I did too. Kind of dry quip I would make and get stares.

 

I emailed Amazon.ca pointing out the pre-order price guarantee policy and they reinstated my discounted preorder, with an additional 5% discount for the trouble

 

Havent checked this thread in a week. Did I read correctly that some of the canadian orders got cancelled? If so, sorry to hear for anyone who thought they got a deal

 

I want and would love to pay the going rate. Can't though. Thanks for the sympathetic ear. Hope to reciprocate sometime.

The way I see it is many, many people ordered a set with a price they KNEW was a mistake. They happily, merrily, and brazenly boasted about how Amazon had somehow effed up and how everyone should jump on the gravy train while the gettin' was good.

This was not a $5 mistake. The sets were WAY below actual cost, and everyone ordering FULLY KNEW IT.

The fervor around here was insane.

And since that time, this thread has been full of people expressing worry that their ill-gotten gains would be snatched away from them. Like they were the victims or something.

I wonder if Amazon.ca ever caught wind of all the gloating that had been going on here? I know if I was a merchant, I wouldn't want any of those folks as my customers. So maybe by not sending out cancellation emails they're killing two birds with one stone.

 

Target also gives a 5% discount on *all* purchases when using a Target *debit* red card. No fees, no interest.

I have a debit red card, though I'm probably sticking with my Amazon order because I have Prime and they're more reliable in general than Target (either via mail or in-person).
