Not long now. Will be queuing at Record Collector from midnight. Just putting a checklist together. Local weather predicts ".....a cool night with frost expected....". Better than last year's snow then.
Right; Bag with goodies - crisps, peanuts (cashew & salted), Lucozade tablets, flasks of coffee, bottle of Australian red, cork-screw, wine glasses, chocolate (dark & milk), camera, gloves, all-weather waterproof trousers, 2 pairs of socks, golfing umbrella, reading glasses, latest MOJO, paperbacks (various), scarf, hat(s), tissues......oh yeah - list! Er.........

Good luck old chap. I'm still wondering whether it's worth the sacrifice. These guys seem to have had a good time, but they started at 9 or 10 the previous night. I'm just not made of such strong stuff.

That's weird. None of my copies of Night Moves have it at all.

Y'know, where we go there's an EXCELLENT balti house right opposite the record shop. On some of the really cold RSD nights in the past, my boy & I have had an exceptional curry takeaway from there at 2 in the morning and, as good businessmen, they let the queue use their lavatories.
Now......where had I got to....? Fold-out chair, charged-up mobile phone, breath mints, torch, pit-spray, notebook, pen(s), pillow.......

At least as "tacit" as Sonic could acknowledge a Spiritualized album

But there has been another reissue recently on Art Vinyl/ Sony that came with cd.

For artists that used to care about their vinyl releases - George Peckham masters, embossed sleeves, different speed on different sides, discs that play inside out (was that official?) - both Peter and Jason have been relatively sloppy concerning their reissues lately.

Yeah I can't do it. Last couple of RSDs I went to the shop on Monday and still found everything on my list (or the shop could still reorder a copy). Pushing my luck but we will see.

Does anyone know anything about the Ken Kesey acid test? Anyone heard this before? Are the dead playing music? I see they are listed on the sticker on the cover.

Me neither! I'm going to lineup about 20-30 minutes beforehand, if I can't get what I want it just wasn't meant to be. The phrase "I'm too old for this...stuff" comes to mind:)

Don't forget that Johnny taught us that about playing on seesaws too....

Now let me show you what I mean
Now you say you want to play upon a seesaw
You're all alone and you don't know what to do
Well just go and find a friend and sit him on the other end
You'll have more fun when one and one makes two
    Oh yes one and one...

For important things there is Johnny Cash, for RSD there is MasterCard!

Count how many records end up on eBay and discogs. It is like 1-5% of the total made, yes certain titles will have higher percentages but the reality is flipping is a truly tiny portion of sales.

Because the problem is highly visible though people THINK it's a huge problem, it's not and it has become less so the past few years as popularity is waining and there are no longer obvious items to flip.

I challenge anyone to try to find a hot item in this years list.

So far, I'm going to be on the lookout for The Beatles single, the Kinks release, The Zombies releases and maybe the Robert Johnson set.

I'm only trying 2 shops that participate, then the rest of the day will be at an indie shop that doesn't (they got fed up with the RSD stuff, leftovers that don't sell, as well as feeling it unfair selling to flippers) - they're going to have a few food trucks, a good indie coffee shop serving coffee and live music, so I like being there for the rest of RSD so I can see what special vintage stuff they have available and on sale.

Wish I could make it since there are quite a few releases that interest me. Guess I'll have to check on the net. I'm trying to avoid eBay flippers, though, so does anyone know when Amoeba and Bull Moose put their leftovers online? What other indie shops do that? Thanks for your help :)
