  2. Thanks. Yeah a big pet peeve of mine. That and many folks don't seen to know you can touch the screen to alter the exposure so the back light doesn't wash things out and make your person or object in the foreground way too dark. A couple of fun foto tips from Mazzy :tiphat:

I don't know whose voice that is talking in the video, but I found it very funny that he mentioned Mark Lewisohn being wrong about some things in his Recording Sessions book! I'm sure Paul would derive great pleasure from that! :D

    Adding fuel to the fire:

Geoff in his book: 'Blackbird.' "Most of the bird noises were dubbed on later, from a sound effects record, but a couple of them were live, sparrows and finches singing outside the Abbey Road studio on a soft summer eve along with Paul McCartney."

And the following site has some additional informations:
"Blackbird" song by The Beatles. The in-depth story behind the songs of The Beatles. Recording History. Songwriting History. Song Structure and Style.

The camera loved George, at least Richard Lester thought so.

They were silent when the alternate take from Anthology was recorded then. Maybe they only started singing when they thought Paul had nailed the master take ;)

I kept hoping they'd play some of the boxset after they had unpacked it

I agree. I'm not going to watch either and once people start providing pictures I can't unsee I'll be moving along.
Until then I can still read about Surround Sound setups here, etc. :D ;)

Yes, life's too short to ruin the fun of opening up the release when it arrives at my house and having most of it being a nice surprise, rather than "ho-hum" I've seen it all already. :D

    More tea, boys?

  17. I eventually learned that "Tea" is not just tea, and "Pudding" is not necessarily pudding.

I listened "Blackbird" in mono (from the 2014 vinyl set): at the silent part I heard very low chirp of birds that do not seem to belong to the EMI tape whose sounds are much louder. But I don't know!

But a "four of fish and finger pie" is, and has always been, exactly what it's supposed to be ... ;)

They must have been close miked on their own track then, because they were completely mixed out of the rough mix of the master take on the Peter Sellers tape...

Except there was no recording in a hall way, near an open window. Blackbird was recorded entirely in Studio 2, while John was in Studio 3 (a short walk away) adding sound effects to Revolution #9. Ron

Just received a 1994 'Live at The BBC' 2-cd set (one of the pitfalls of trying to get remasters on the cheap...) and it has the original* price tag still on it... £25!

    (~US$37 at 1994 exchange rates)

In Japan they had the negative the right way round :

    * Edit: maybe the £25 price tag on the BBC set is recent - the 1994 edition is currently listed at £26.60 on amazon UK o_O:
