    Oh fudge.

There's a problem with the DVD? I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. What's wrong with it?

Except that BF clearly is slowing down. You stated this in an earlier post:

Bear Family box sets released in 2014: 4
Bear Family box sets released in 2015: 4
Bear Family box sets released in 2016: 3
Bear Family box sets released in 2017: 1 (three more finished or in production as of April, two more at planning stage)

Yet we know that in 2007 there were at least 8 int'l boxsets. Or to try a different approach at a yardstick: I carried a total of 244 different int'l boxsets in the time I was selling BF. If we divide that 244 by the 20 years between BF's first boxset and 2007, we get a long-term average of slightly over 12 boxsets per year. Compared to your own numbers above, that would suggest a significant 67% dropoff.

Man, hope this thread doesn't end up locked...

Snagged a lesser-known BF title the other day, Rollee McGill's Rhythm Rockin' Blues. So little is known about the man that the biography is a scant seven pages long. Similarly, the personnel are unknown for all but one of his recording sessions.

Mychael, I for one value your comments and appreciate the facts and information you supply, as opposed to rumours and hearsay

I know I check these forums a lot just to see if you have posted anything. Your very valuable. I have managed to score a copy of the George Jones set, and soon when County Sales restocks, I'll grab the Roy Acuff set, so I'm fine with getting the new sets. And the odd times I have gotten cd-r's or defective discs, Bear Family has always made it right for me. No grumblings here, except I really want a David Houston set. And the rest of Webb Pierce. And whatever you can dig up on Guy Clark. And Buck Owens live stuff.

Richard Weize Archives seem pretty busy right now. I'm getting weekly Facebook updates with new releases. I guess this is where "the action" is moving. Highly specialist, vinyl only items like Frankie Miller demo tapes from 1954 instead of 27-CD box sets that nobody can afford.

I believe most comments, including my own, were very complimentary to your work and your designs. and virtually every comment showed a great appreciation for the work of all at Bear Family. It may be true that many are concerned about fewer opportunities to buy BF products, but that is not a criticism. Most understand that the entire CD industry is declining

Although it's human nature for a music lover to be a completist and to want more, we must take time each day to treasure the previous box sets and collections released by BF through the years. After all, the BF titles of tomorrow might not be possible if not for the BF titles of yesterday.

The current dilemma for many dedicated BF customers here in North America is that new converts and longtime buyers are facing "sticker shock," due to the abnormal price increases in our neck of the woods. More recently, this has been an ongoing concern for BF and customers in our neck of the woods, but I'm 100% confident that BF will thoroughly analyze the situation and resolve any and all issues in the near future.

Mychael, you're an amazing artist and a wealth of knowledge in the world of this music we appreciate and love so dearly. I look up to you with great respect and feel honored by your presence everyday on this online community. When you share behind the scenes photos and news on projects, my heart literally skips a beat.

You folks make me proud to be a Bear Family loyalist. Bear Family truly is the "Gold standard" for all reissue releases. I can't imagine life without Bear Family. Hands-down, Bear Family are the greatest record label in the entire world.

I hope the label does well, although I'm not a fan of vinyl-only releases. Having bought vinyl for several decades, I like cds and have no desire to buy vinyl records. In looking at the RWA site, it looks like several good titles are vinyl-only. This is too bad.

Mychael, hope you don't stop posting. I don't always agree with you but I do listen to what you say and I do believe your statements that involve facts. You know whats going on there and I appreciate the info you provide. Don't take anybodies comments personal. Remember we are all looking at this from different places so we see what we see differently many times.

I've been wanting to tell you that the artwork/layout for the Michigan box is excellent. It really adds to the enjoyment of the music. I especially like the period photos that show parts of the state with houses, autos and just everyday things that have changed or disappeared since the 50s and 60s. I don't have my box right here so I can't look it up but is the lady listed as doing editing a relative? Thanks for your info and comments and I hope you are swamped with work you want to do.

I loves me some Gene Vincent (one of my three or four fave early rockers) and I just got the single disc (30 Track) "Gene Rocks" CD :righton:

It's from 2010... I'm hopeful that it will have the same great sound quality that many here have raved about re Bear Family.

You should try calling Cheapo Records in Cambridge Mass to see if they have it. When you call, have the Bear Family catalog number ready because that is the way they organize their stock. If they have it, it may be a trick to get them to ship it, but first see if they have it. If they have it, it would be priced as original stock.
