Yeah, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is a pretty great read.

It was my first solo midnight movie, too, indeed, one of the first times my parents let me have the car to myself. It was nearly 4am by the time I got home.

I do think MMT has it charms, even moreso than I did then. I don't think JTtP has any, though. If only I'd been able to sleep through part of it! It's like, the awfulness of it was keeping me awake, which I suppose is an artistic feat of some sort.

Surprised to see some people dissing the Walrus sequence... In my mind it's one of the great archetypal Beatles moments.

I do admit that even when they lip-synch, I still get a kick out of watching the Fabs.

Not enough of a kick to make "MMT" good, however! :D

I first saw it in 76 at a college movie night. I was lit. The print sucked. Bad. Still.....
Had the Media VHS. Turned off the sound and played the CD tracks.
    Upgraded to DVD then Blu.

It's a long form music video.
Kinda makes me wonder how it came off in back and white.

I think it's great! Much better than Help. A Hard Days Night is a more cohesive film, but not as enjoyable.

The narrative and images presented within the gatefold of the album itself were far more interesting and compelling than the "film".

I paged through the album art countless times as a kid and the movie was a letdown.

I love the movie. I watched it many times back in the day.

A movie starring the Bonzos would have been better.

I remember my first 2 times seeing this film. Fist - midnight movie in the 70's. LOADED. Walked out scratching my head. Thought...oh well, did too much, didn't get the movie. Second - another midnight movie - stone cold sober. Still walked out scratching my head. It wasn't until the movie came out recently on BD I finally got it, at least what they were trying to do.

That's funny because one thought I had watching the film was that at least, thanks to the updated Beatles/Capitol deal, we Americans were spared a "soundtrack" album where the 6 Beatles tracks were padded out with the oompah version of She Loves You, the orchestra All My Loving and other instrumental bits (and a Bonzo song that's not one of my favorites; The Intro and The Outro made a better Intro-duction to them when I was a little older).

By the way, here it is

The most wonderful piece of work orchestrating the music of the Beatles ever. Simply sublime

Editing out the non-musical sequences results in a shorter, better film. :)

FWIW, Viv Stanshall was on record as being upset their song didn't make it onto the LP...

Have stripper Jan Carson's uncensored scenes been restored, anywhere?

    Seriously!
Even if they approached it in the same reckless manner as MMT, it would probably had been closer to what Paul was trying to achieve.

Yep, if you just had the collection of songs and performances, it's not terrible. The rest of it... :sigh:

But seriously, how bad can it be? :)

Surely just a long music video of sorts?. Can't be worse than Broad Street haha

I gotta watch it. Haven't yet seen this one nor Let It Be.

I'm still only familiar with the songs, having never seen this film in its entirety, but it sounds as if I've come out ahead as the music appears to be its greatest asset. I mean "duh" its The Beatles, of course the music's likely to be the best part, but the film sounds atrocious.

Dunno, don't people seem to like it. That's good enough for me to give it a shot.

Hell, who am I kidding. It's The Beatles. I'd give it a watch anyway.
