just picked up a European copy of this album and was surprised that the sleeve is a big folded poster, so no spine info etc. Were all vinyl releases in this format or is there a normal sleeve available.

    All copies were like that.

All 143 copies that have been sold to date were like that ... ;)

Thanks. Must be a first. Definite candidate for a plastic sleeve then.

Can you quantify that number then. I read somewhere several years ago that it was just over 2500 in vinyl.

I was joking about the number.

Yeah I guessed you were but I was intrigued about the comment.

That album was not the biggest of sellers, so I was joking about an overly low number of sales.

The US vinyl has a standard sleeve. I've got a copy of both.

Interesting. I quite like the poster thingy, but would prefer a conventional sleeve.

Agreed - I only bought it because I wanted to have a spine showing! I seem to remember it's a relatively unexciting matt card sleeve, I'll try and take some photos later if nobody gets there before me

Like @Rigsby, I got a US copy (sealed) along with my U.K.

In a slightly different vein (but relevant to the topic as posted), what the hell was he thinking with that cover design? The chair?!? I also remember him saying there were some (paraphrasing here) "naughty bits" sort of hidden in it, but even on the larger vinyl design I don't see anything that fits that description. Anybody?

Yep it's a pretty poor cover. The chair actually looks "blocked" in lighting terms - I can just make out some kind of pattern, but not sure if that is material on said chair or some kind of arty overlay.

Not unlike the mastering of the music on the inside of the jacket

The CD cover for one version (I forget which, as I got the standard from Starbucks on release day and the pink bonus edition), but one had the ability to take out the center so the chair was just an outline, and you could put in paper and make your own decorated chairs.

I don't get the idea of the chair, either, but that was something interesting. That and folding the cover certain ways to make the chair appear.

A chair (Vincent Van Gogh's) was also prominent in the packaging of 'Pipes Of Peace.' Maybe he just has a thing for chairs.

I got the pink Starbucks one the day it came out. I don't know about other versions, but this one definitely has the cutout on the inner side of the cover. I very much dislike the "normal" white cover, but the pink one works for me. It's not amazing, but it's just different enough. :)

On a side note, I did love going to get the standard version on release day. That was when Starbucks had the all-day release party where the album was playing in every Starbucks, they had the album on sale and had a special Starbucks card with Paul on it (I still use the one I got as a gift, refilling it from time to time!)
