Managed to get one of the last 3 Soul Slabs from the site as I didn't get out yesterday. Looking forward to it!
Huh, weird. It said only 3 remaining when I ordered, now you can just order. Well, whatever, can't wait to get it.
I ordered mine last night since my local didn't have one. Really looking forward to it, @Colemine Records !
Daptone's accepting pre-orders for the new Como Mamas album now. I just ordered one of the 200 white vinyl copies! The sound samples sound GREAT!! PRE-ORDER: The Como Mamas - Move Upstairs – daptonerecords
Well plus $5 shipping if he's a prime member And no, did not know out of the wilderness on the albums a remake. Hmm. I wasn't too thrilled with the first single from the album, off to sample this remake Edit - slightly slower groove but still sounds alright to me. Still have high hopes for this one!
Priority Shipping is $10 from daptone. The last two times i ordered media mail the packages ended up as far as Kansas and Tennessee before arriving. They are in brooklyn, im in DC.
My order of Colemine's Soul Slabs Vol. 1 is out for delivery! Can't wait to spin this over the weekend.
yeah for some reason their media mail shipments take 3 times longer than if I ship media mail from my home. I should probably just pay the extra $5 for priority but I'm Balancing being cheap with buying direct
It's Sharon Jones' Birthday week! Today at noon (est) on WFUV (streaming online at www.wfuv.org) will be a special Sharon Jones tribute show with Dap-Kings' Binky Griptite and Neal Sugarman.
If you haven't grabbed the latest 45 from Benjamin & The Dreamdancers - DO IT! It's great! Also, I got the notification that my copy of The Como Mamas LP has shipped!
I just nonchalantly picked up a white copy of the Como Mamas LP (in fact my buddy who works at the shop literally just handed me a copy assuming I would want it) ... and when I input it into Discogs I see copies for sale at $95? Isn't that kinda crazy?? Anyway, great great album. Those ladies sound so good with a backing band! A+
I listened to it last night ... KILLER stuff. They went for an early '60s gospel-soul groove on this one, and even mixed it in mono. For an acappella group, the ladies respond beautifully to having a funky band behind them. The white vinyl pressing is very quiet and the mastering is impeccable. Another solid winner from Daptone!
