What MOFI lp's are completely worth it? I'm looking for releases you can still buy direct from MOFI or from stores. I see that many are no longer pressed and will not be re-released. Before I drop some coin on a dupe, I want to be sure it is money well spent.

    Thoughts?

American Beauty by The Dead. Don't know if it is still available, but there is a good chance it is.

titles still in print that I recommend:

Bill Withers - Live At Carnegie Hall
    Elvis Costello - Get Happy
Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow - mono
Jerry Garcia & David Grisman - Jerry Garcia & David Grisman
Little Feat - Waiting For Columbus
    Los Lobos - Kiko
    Love - Forever Changes
Rickie Lee Jones - Rickie Lee Jones
The Allman Brothers Band - At Fillmore East
The Band - Rock Of Ages
The Grateful Dead - American Beauty
The Grateful Dead - Workingmans Dead
Tom Waits & Crystal Gayle - One From The Heart OST

Plus all of the Dylan and Miles titles (the Sinatra series was wonderful too - but I think these are all gone)

I have the UK original which sounds great but I note that the recent Universal reissue of GH is also a double album. I wonder how it compares to the MFSL?

I heard CSN&Y Deja-Vu in a record store once and it was remarkable. They wouldn't sell it to me either.

  7. It's outstanding indeed, but long OOP. Why wouldn't they sell it?

  8. For albums still available (as far as I know):

    Rickie Lee Jones - S/T debut - 45RPM
    Alan Parsons Project - I Robot - 45RPM
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms - 45RPM
Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks - 33RPM
    Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited - 45RPM

I can't think of too many that I own that I don't like. Deja Vu is amazing. Blind Faith too.

  10. Another OOP title that's simply stunning is The Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery and Imagination.

Carole King's Tapestry is great and in print. The Band Music From Big Pink and S/T (brownie) are also fantastic but I'm not certain if they're both still in print. I'm also a big fan of the MoFi Tears For Fears releases - Songs From The Big Chair and The Seeds Of Love.

Have become a MOFI junkie in the past year and am now over 100 titles... All of the ones that are currently in print are all pretty stellar, but I think some are getting to end of being in print. Looks as if you can always tell when Music Direct turns up the price and the other outlets don't have any stock left.

My list of current that I would recommend"

    TAPESTRY- amazing!
All of the Allman Brother titles.
Billy Joel- All are good but Glass Houses is the best sounding of all of them
    All of the Dylan's
    I Robot 45 RPM
    Brothers In Arms 45 RPM

    Happy Shopping!

True, way out of print but obtainable if one wants to pay to own the best sounding versions of these albums.

I skipped the SACD due to poor reports, so I'd imagine the same mastering to wax may be similar...
