Dayton, Ohio Record Stores

Does anybody have any memories of record stores in the Dayton, Ohio?
I only remember...
Renaissance Music Media (next to the Dabel theater)
Gem City
Omega Music
Dingleberry's (2 locations)
I have a brief memory of a place called Goldenrod's on Main.

Omega is the only one still open.

I'm going to a concert in Kettering, OH just outside of Dayton in a couple weeks and was wondering if anyone could recommend some record stores.

I'll have to check out Omega.

It's run by the same people that used to run Gem City Records.

Just went to the Dayton, Ohio record show today.
Nice small show put on by Alpha Records.
Has anyone here been to one of their shows?
They also do shows in Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisville & Nashville.

I've set up to sell at Alpha shows in Indianapolis and Louisville, and they are nice low-key affairs, but he's been working off the same dealer and buyer mailing list for 20+ years, they are not well promoted and there are few surprises for buyers or sellers (and when I go to one I am both). The Northside record show in Cincinnati (next one in November) is a better bet if you can make it.

 

Don't forget Second Time Around for cd's.

 

I grew up in Dayton and remember Renaissance, peaches, golden Rod, bullfrog, dingleberries, second time around, warehouse records, spud city records, gem city records, and Philman's.

Bullfrog records had a framed "my Bonnie" original 45 and several original Elvis Sn 45s

Renaissance was the only game in town when CDs first came out. When a new album was released, the cd version came later. I purchased most of the German pressed Genesis cds ( PG era) ozzy era Sabbath and Rush cds ( all German). I still have the Genesis and Rush copies which sound, in some instances, superior to later versions. The very first cd I ever purchased, I still have, was Deep Purple's Perfect Strangers. It still plays great today.

 

Do you remember that had a record shop on the corner of Wyoming St & Indiana Ave. (or was it Illinois ?)
He would later move down to Brown St (near 2nd Time). Can't recall his name or the name of his store.

Recently got a turntable (first one in years) & I've been checking out which stores still sell used vinyl.
I'm kind of limited to...
2nd And Charles (a local used bookstore who's average price for a used LP is $2-$8)
HPB (overpriced goodwill stuff)
Omega Records (clean vinyl at fair prices).
Picked up 3 LPs for my collection for $10
John Denver - Some Days Are Diamonds... (w/original Inner)
Bee Gees - To Whom It May Concern (ATCO)
Rick Nelson - Garden Party (Decca)
Nice clean vinyl

Thinking of trying Toxic Beauty Records in Yellow Springs.

Darryl. Toxic Beauty is a nice store and the guy who runs it seems pretty cool.
Only visited once. Picked up a Small Faces lp at a reasonable price. The place is neat and clean and well organized. Only wish it was larger!

 

There's a vintage clothing store in the Oregon Dist on 5th St. called Feathers.
They have lots of $2 records.
I'd call first because they have odd hours.

BTW, like to shop local whenever possible.
I know a local guy handmade my wood CD unit.
I heard he also used to do wood record shelves but he's stopped doing them awhile back.
