I believe it's Northern Ash. If you tried to smash this guitar you'd just end up damaging the floor.

This is a picture of a Fender American Vintage Reissue of the 1962 Stratocaster. In 1982, Fender re-opened the old Fullerton CA production plant and started making guitars following the techniques, machines and design prints used to make the originals.

This particular guitar was made in 1982, has very low serial and neck date #'s and and just sold for $4700!

My avatar is a partial image of my 1982 American Vintage Reissue which I bought in 1982 brand new, and I still have it today. My guitar's serial and neck date numbers are very low as well.

I have played many many Strats over the years and I've not played one that is better than this, including some very expensive true vintage early 60's Strats.

I fell in love with the look and the sound of this model when I saw and heard Tom Petty playing a true vintage 1964 Strat just like what you see here. It's owned by Mike Campbell.

Well that's the point -- the Precision Bass, with its frets, provides precise intonation without perfect finger placement, unlike a traditional upright acoustic bass, which was the option prior to the P-Bass's introduction in 1951.

cause the model only has one pickup.
Have to know how to use the volume & tone controls to get a wide variety of sounds/textures [w/o pedal(s) or amp(s) manipulations].
Nothing against a three-way or five-way switcher. Just think it's cool "1" can sound like many!

'54: Jeff Beck on "Shapes of Things".
'64: Paul McCarthy on "Heltrr Skelter".
'52: Bruce Springsteen throughout recording & touring career.
Michael Monarch on "Born To Be Wild".

    * never owned a guitar; never even played one.

    How come?

I feel like the opposite with mine. I know I tune my Strat a lot more! (And if I just look at my tele in a strong way, it loses pitch...)

I'm a Strat fanatic. At the moment I have:

Original 1972 Strat w/ Lindy Fralin pickups
    Yngwie Malmsteen Strat
1987 Fender Japan 70s reissue with Duncan Antiquities
1959 American Vintage reissue with Lindy Fralin pickups

Hard to explain, I don't mean that I think they are necessarily better at staying in tune. It's just that in a weird way it is almost like you have to fight with a Strat a little more vs picking up a say a new LP-which I I feel like I don't want to put any scratches on it and or really bang around on it. With the same gauge strings I feel like I have to play a LP with a more delicate touch to keep chords in tune than say a Strat that I can beat on it like SRV. This of course is my impressions and not meaning to put down an LP in any way. In fact I hope to re-aquire one some day as the one I had years ago was stolen.

Somewhere I have actual photos of Al Dimeola playing my Dad's 65 Jazzmaster. Also, Les Paul playing the same 65. Jimmy D'Aquisto, too.

But, they are photos not files.
