I like it just fine as a fill-in-the-gaps collection. It was handy when I was putting together my Beatles CD collection.

It's curious, but when talking about master tapes in Spanish, we always refer to them as "masters", using the English word.

Is there a list somewhere that tells you which album each "past master" should be on? I would like to make an iTunes playlist that puts those tracks in the right chronological spot amongst all the album tracks.

I would be shocked if someone hasn't already done this on the forum but I can't find anything with a quick search.

I always thought Past Masters implied that, although a lot of these songs may seem like rarities, they've been released before.

Either way, GM and the folks at EMI did *something* right with this set. Even with the name "Past Masters," it's sold millions of more copies than whatever band you're in :D
