Not saying good or bad, just the fact that it has been forgotten.

Number 1 in Germany: The Electronicas - Dance Little Bird (1981)

A different, equally annyoing cover version by The Tweets reached #2 in the UK, and a German text version by Frank Zander also reached #1 in Germany later.

You don't have to take one over the other. On some level they were kind of like two sides of the same coin.

Remember reading Dee Snider talking about how affective John's testimony was compared to Zappa. Zappa came in and probably put people off while John was very likeable and all aw shucks and whatnot

    Dee Snider

John Denver at that time, he was a movie star, a television star, a radio star, you know, he was a darling of the entertainment world and everybody loved John. You know, Mom, apple pie and John Denver. So we were really concerned that he was going to sell us out, but he didn’t. He stood tall and stood his ground, and remembered very well how “Rocky Mountain High” had been banned and very well how his movie Oh God! had been protested – and again, for all of the wrong reasons, misjudged without people really looking and studying what the hell they were protesting about.

It's a big song in her repertoire, but I agree it's not remembered as well as things like I Honestly Love You, Magic and even Physical by the public.

    Olivia, who?

    Sorry, Bobby, couldn't help myself!

No, I haven't heard the absolutely gorgeous, Have You Never Been Mellow, on the radio, since the mid 70s.

Hot Love, Metal Guru, and Telegram Sam by T -Rex are pretty much forgotten on the radio these days, the only one you here anymore these days is Bang a Gong/Get it On

I certainly wouldn't say those songs are forgotten. Of course they don't get much radio play in the UK but then neither do The Beatles except for a couple of singles. That is to do with the crappy UK radio stations but it doesn't mean songs are forgotten.

Then again it was a huge flop in the U.K. so I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised.:)

Of all the Olivia singles that did miss the charts between 1975-77, Have You Never Been Mellow is the one that most deserved to be a hit.

I'm delighted to say, that the radio station, that gets inflicted on us for a few hours a day, has one redeeming feature! Metal Geru, played reasonably often: and you can never have too much of it!

No Hot Love, and Telegram Sam, though.

Well for us older folk(55) radio is what we were used too even though it sucks now.

"The Ketchup Song (Asereje)" by Las Ketchup was number one in many parts of the world and virtually unknown in the US.

It's one of those novelty/dance numbers that caused quite a stir in its day. Probably unknown today.

It's not unknown at all today. Why do you think that?

If ever, there was a justification, for the deployment of nuclear weapons, capable of world wide devastation, this must be it! :D

Probably because I live in the US and it's never been played over here. I'm surprised that it's still popular in Germany (perhaps elsewhere?)

Don't know why but I always thought that single was only a minor hit.

Not literally forgotten as it's too recent, but in 2004 this was a UK #1 (as was the "response" version by Frankee). It also made the top 20 in the US and Eamon was tipped to have a long career. He's a one-hit wonder now, and the song - omnipresent in its day - is never really heard anywhere anymore.

Most of them are best forgotten imho, as are most UK number ones from that dreadful period.

It was a bigger hit here in the US - #1 US, #14 UK...
