Now playing the following CD from my Brahms/Tchaikovsky collection. It has been years since I last played this CD ... Looks like I have the SACD version as well.
I guess he doesn't like Harnoncourt. Granted, he did some controversial things, but I like much of what he recorded and this set with the Berlin Philharmonic is one of the better Brahms symphonies cycles in my opinion.
I like some recordings by Harnoncourt, but not this one. It is mannered, rushed, weird orchestral balances, and the Berlin phil. sound like a chamber orchestra.
