Despite that it's still a morose melancholy, albeit beautiful, song that is unfairly maligned.

I can't stand The Streak! Ray has some great singles like "Misty" & "Everything Is Beautiful" but not a fan of his novelty songs

We Brits liked a bit of honest to goodness smut. The Streak got a lot of airplay on Radio 1 as it was cheeky but stopped short of scaring the horses. Unlike, say, Judge Dread.:)

Mind you, I do agree. The Streak is a rotten song!

The Rangers' Waltz by The Moms and Dads was #1 for weeks in Australia. Radio hasn't played it this century.

My best friend at school loved that song. I remember having Bridget The Midget, that was a huge hit as well. I think it may have been no 2 when T.Rex were at no 1 for six weeks with Hot Love...

I think I might have giggled at The Streak first time I heard it... It was never on my 'to buy' list. The latter usually comprised of about 23 singles per week.:)

It's a bit early for me. I missed Marc's golden years. I started listening to the charts in 1973. His single at that time was Truck On (Tyke). That was going going to convince me to become a fan.

Looking back now, there probably was 23 better singles, I could have bought that week!

This is the week it hit number one.

For me it's probably the worst song in the top ten. And yes, I did see the Mouth and Macneal record.:D

What a lot of great tunes, and yes, I could find 23 others!

Now I remember it keeping, Hey Rock And Roll, of the top spot, I'm even more depressed!

I must have been doing a Saturday job then, as I bought a few of those singles, including, The Scaffold.

I can't remember the Mouth and Macneal, record.

The Mouth & Macneal song was a Eurovision entry, I believe. These were the days when even the songs from the contest that failed were hits!

Bigtime! But, I know about Cook and Greenway. They were huge in bubblegum pop. They wrote a few of my favorite songs.

My favorite Ray Stevens song is "Mr. Businessman" and "Misty" is good too. I do like some of Stevens' comedy songs, like "The Shriner's Convention."

"Misty" is the best, but I can't listen to it anymore.

With global warming, you'd think it would be more popular now ...

How Do You Do is a great song! Silly, but musically it sounds terrific! (so does My Ding-a-Ling to my ears)

Ahab the Arab is brilliant! Mr. Businessman is a good song too, and the lyrics are well-written, even though I may take issue with some of them.

1990-1991 has quite a few songs that seem to have fallen through the cracks once grunge and gangsta rap came along and changed everything. Sweet Sensation's If Wishes Came True, Tommy Page's I'll Be Your Everything, Timmy T's One More Try and Glenn Medeiros' She Ain't Worth It all come to mind... chart toppers upon release, but too late to fall into 80s nostalgia playlists, but stylistically too different from what we associate with the 90s to fall into 90s nostalgia either.... none of those songs I've heard on radio since they were comparatively recent.

I can't believe all those songs were #1. They mostly sound like #2

Psychotic Reaction. Peaked at number five on the billboard 100, but number one in my heart.

Angel Fingers by Wizzard is all but forgotten but did make UK number one, albeit for a solitary week.
