Interesting to see that 'No. 2' is actually no one's favourite.

Beggars Banquet will always be my top favorite. But if I were to choose specifically the best of each era with Jones, Taylor and Wood, they would be:

    Aftermath- UK edition
    Exile on Main St.
    Tattoo You

    Honorable mentions:

    Out of Our Heads(US edition)
    Between the Buttons(UK edition)
    Let it Bleed
    Sticky Fingers
    Some Girls

I'm in agreement with the group. Sticky Fingers to me is the one that plays best as a full record followed by Exile and Let It Bleed and that's how the poll stands now.

After 40 years of listening to the Stones, it's still the debut that excites me the most,
but my favourite is Between the Buttons

Let It Bleed is easily my favorite. Then Sticky Fingers. I'm on the fence about the rest: good songs here and there but don't feel the albums are that strong (yes, that includes Exile).

Top 1 varies day to day but it's ALWAYS one of these 3, Exile, Stanky Fingers, Let It Bleed. Beggars Banquet alone in 4th but never a contender for # 1.

It indeed is. But it somehow tends to get lost in the shuffle of early albums: It's more of the same in the style of the debut album and compared to the other early efforts, there is only one big hit (Time Is On My Side).
That said, it still is better than 12X5, in my opinion.

    I have five favorites:

    The Rolling Stones
    The Rolling Stones No. 2
    Their Satanic Majesties Request
    Let It Bleed
    Exile On Main St.

...and maybe A Bigger Bang as well, that modern sound suits them IMO.

I have a second Decca pressing (1965) of their first album and a first pressing of their second album. Love those LPs, glad they're in my collection.

Really tough choice but went with BEGGARS BANQUET. Others I might have gone for on any given day:

    NOW
    AFTERMATH (UK TRACK LISTING)
    LET IT BLEED
    STICKY FINGERS
    EXILE ON MAIN STREET
    SOME GIRLS
    TATTOO YOU

  20. NOW! is the ultimate Stones album for me. IMHO there is no finer example of what a rock'n'roll band can capture when they put 100% of their hearts & souls into a recording. The Stones rock the blues on this thing like like everybody else tried to do but seldom achieved. A grand-slam home run that just might be THE blueprint for UK blooze...

Aftermath for me. Mick's voice is at its youthful best here, and the Brian-version of the band serves up some tasty songs and performances.

It came out while I was in high school. 'Nuf said. I still have that copy. Nothing beats it.

Although my favorite Rolling Stones record is the 45 of "19th Nervous Breakdown" backed with "Mother's Little Helper." It was my first 45 and I won it at a dance. Cool stuff for a 13 year old boy.

I am a fanatic of the early Stones and voted for Between the buttons.

When Exile came out, I didn't like it much. Still today, after many attempts to "give it another chance", I am with the absolute minority in not liking this record. Can anyone suggest how to approach it with any chance of getting to enjoy it? I find it too much formulaic seventies boogie blues with no memorable melodies.
